My AV6 might be dying after 90k miles - need advice

I bought an 03 TLS with an AV6 already installed. Original transmission failed at 60k and had a av6 swap and now the car has 150k. The av6 is whining in park and downshifting hard coming from 2nd gear into 1st, shifts normally in all other respects. I"m going to flush the fluid but if it doesn't work what would be my best option going forward?

1. Buy a used transmission with 50k off ebay for $950.
2. Buy a rebuilt transmission off ebay for $1800.
3. Pay $3000+ to have a professional shop rebuild my transmission with their in shop warranty.

Questions -- since this isn't the original transmission, would this void any warranty if I got it rebuilt in a shop?

How much in labor would a shop charge (generally speaking) to swap my old av6 with a different av6 assuming all the custom work has already been done? I don't have a the time or skills to swap the transmission myself.

Thanks in advance.

from what I heard, these things are pretty bullet proof... what were your maintenance habits for the av6?

it sounds like the previous owner may have replaced it with a highly used (mileage) transmission and torque converter and then sold it as I will never part with my TL now that the transmission is an AV6.

How do you know it has an AV6 trans?
