multi misfire after changing coils and plugs

I have a 2003 Acura Tl. I have changed my EGR cleaned the intake, changed the coils and spark plugs. I am still getting P1399 multi misfire code. Anyone had this issue car has 103000 and is on the second tranny in 20000 miles. any help is much appreciated, just trying to get it fixed so I can sell the POS.

You changed out all of the coil packs? Wow, that's a pretty expensive rememdy.

Are you getting any other codes other than P1399? I can't say I've ever seen just that code come up. Typically it's accompanied by P0301, P0302, etc.

Well I changed out 4. 2 of the original were still good. And all this after a set I bought off ebay that were bad from the start. I had the codes come up prior telling me what cylinders were misfiring and so I assumed it was the coils because I had changed out the plugs. It took away the specific code and left me with P1399. Go figure I just want to be rid of this POS car.

When i had those codes i had p1399 then 3 other misfired in cyl;inder 4,2,5..
the cylinders are

back of car
123
456
front of car

and fire 1-4-2-5-3-6- so i just replaced coil pack 4 cuz that was the first to fire and that fixed the problem for all 3 cylinders.. when i looked at the coil pack the metal spring was burnt!

spark plugs?the cars not a pos. u just didnt diagnose the problem from the beginning and started changing parts. not what mechanics do, hence the high price of diagnostics

our cars are alot of things, they may have their issues from time to time but they are definitely NOT a pos. In fact our cars are better then some of the 09 cars on the road today

are the correct plugs in the car- NGK Iridium or NGK Platinum?

Misfire after plug change is usually 1 coil got set down hard or dropped and broke inside.

The computer cant tell whats wrong except misfire and gives a multi cyl code- but gets you looking in the right direction for a problem
Codes are CLUES not diagnosis

if you had this problem before u did the egr, plugs and coils and you know for a fact the new coils are good then id suggest looking at the injectors. they could be clogged giving you a random misfire

injectors and misfire codes- no--rough running yes
a can of redline SI1 in half a tank or seafoam can in half tank will resolve any FI issues
BUT the misfire codes are telling something is wrong
Easy to swap coils around and see if alleged bad cyl changes

Its usully just 1 coil fails from age, or most often-damage during plug change-
thays why we say buy 1 NEW coil from the parts store- 50 bucks- and start trying it on each cyl
MUST reset ecu each time or you get false old codes

hes only getting a p1399 so its not narrowing the misfire down to one or 2 cylinders. if it was then obviously he should be swapping coils and then plugs to narrow down the cause.

Sorry man my car is a POS. I did diagnose it from the start I got the EGR valve code, then I got misfire for certain cylinders before changing coils I OMH'd them and guess what the ones I changed were bad. It just made sense to change the sparks plugs when I was having firing problem (not and expensive maint item). I have spent 6 thousand dollars on this car in the past 20,000(mostly tranny stuff) if that is not a POS I dont know what one is.

Now back to my problem at hand. Thanks for all the help guys but I got it fixed yesterday. The MECHANIC I took the car too to clean the intake port(because I didnt have time to mess with it) put the gasket on the intake on wrong and it restricted the flow and caused misfires, at least this is what the acura dealership told me. Now I have the car back an was ready to get rid of the car but now I have a 2nd to 3rd gear slip again. Looks like a third tranny.

These car's are POS thats why there resale value is Horrible.
The Trannies last 3-4 years (if u r lucky) the ront brakes EAT your rotors in less then a year, the sunroof will not stop rattling..
Cars in the same year that cost 5-10K less new are reselling for just as much if not more then these POS cars..And it is cuz the transmissions suck.. who wants to buy a car knowing the trans can fail at any minute and then Acura will give no one a strait answer on the trans.. they say it was fixed in 2005 BUT i had a trannyu that was replaced late 05 fail after 60 k and then acura will not even tell us what they did to help the tranny not fail... Sorry to say these cars are POS..

yep- when doing the egr port cleaning the top gasket can be installed upside down and still fit, but there is blockage of something else- makes car run bad until you redo the job

tip for all: place the gasket on the top cover side, not onto the engine side
Thats how you can see the ports and verify its on the `right side up`

Always recheck the last things done to the car before suspecting new problems

Glad its solved!
