I have had the Comptech for a couple days, and I think they are to load for a "near-luxury" sedan. I am going to sell the Comptechs and either go back to stock or try to decide whether the Mugens are worth $1300. How does the car perform with the CAI and Comptech headers with stock exhaust? Are the Mugen's worth $1300 or can I get by with the stock exhaust?
Any input?

Comptech Sport Springs and Swaybars

Where did you come up with the 5 HP number? How much more does the Comptech header give you? I do know for fact that either the header or mufflers alone do not make enough of a difference in HP to notice or be worth the money unless you leave your car parked on a Dyno.

so header itself is useless??? Snook said he felt the different..maybe just a hype???!
i can find out myself this week, weather header itself is useless or not. i'm gonna focus on high end power cuz TL is weak after 110+mph(feels like the car dont want to faster no more.) After i lost by fixed up civic. i'm tellin you guyz...i was doin 120mph and hesitate to go any faster but that damn civic was kept on goin!!!!! >(
i felt so terrible after that and finally decided to get a header.hell yea! i want new muffler too! but cant deal w/ noise for my near-lux sedan. If mugen goes under 1000$ i might think bout it.

Come on people most guys don't buy mufflers so they can be quiet???? Leave on your stock pipes if you want a quiet luxury car!

I like the idea of a quiet exhaust that looks nice, too. But the Comptech exhaust is reasonably "quiet" for what it is (straight through!)
I have the OEM exhaust in my basement. Paint peeling and a little rusty. I wouldn't consider putting them back on, unless I suddenly had to drive a quiet car for work.
There is definitely a group of people out there who want looks without the noise. But for me, I can't live without that "rumble" that gets attention. You don't even have to gun the engine to get attention. The subtle sound of the exhaust gets people wondering what's underhood.
My opinion of the Comptech: They add just a little too much low end hum when cruising on the highway. That's probably where they are the loudest. Even so, my father didn't think they were too loud (when I asked him after 100 miles of driving). If they were, he would have definitely told me!
If the Mugen exhaust was closer in price to the Comptech, I would choose it instead. Hopefully someone will record stereo sound bytes and give them to Tim to put on his site.

By the way , For the recording of the comptech exhaust sound in the acura-tl.com website , was that recorded inside the car or outside the car ?? In my opinion that comptech wasn't that loud.

I let my brother drive my car around the block so i could hear the exhaust from out side the car for once, and it does not sound loud at all even when you step on the gas. It does sound louder inside the car, but i love it

"I have the Mugen Exhaust and its quiet - quieter than stock."
FongsTL - You sure are making me tempted to get the Mugen exhaust. Are you really pleased with them (worth the investment)? I am thinking about selling my Comptech exhaust and getting the Mugen exhaust because I use my car for business. Do you have headers or a CAI?

When I first got the car, I thought it was smooth as butter. After getting the Comptech and the Bridgestones, the car is smooth like chocolate!
I can understand going back to stock for business. Too bad.

My Mugen exhaust is on the way. Tim emailed me today to say that it is delayed. Thanks Tim for keeping me informed.
I have the headers, cold air intake and the Bridgestone tires. The headers and intake make a big big difference. The noise the intake makes is awesome. I am very concerned about not sounding loud and crappy. The intake and headers almost sound stock under "normal" driving. But punch it and WOW.
I'm hoping the Mugen exhaust will really add to the set up by being less restrictive and letting the air flow even better.
I plan to go out later and test the intake and headers with my Gtech Pro.
Can't wait for the Mugen exhausts!!
