Major VSA Problem

Yesterday me and my wife were midway through 150 mile trip doing about 85 mph, all of a sudden my right front wheel felt like it lost traction and slipped and my VSA light came on for a split second. it scared me a little but i thought maybe i hit something slick in the road. i live in FL so it wasn't ice. then about 5 minutes later my right front wheel locked up for a full second causing my car to violently jerk into the right lane a full car width, luckily there was no one next to me. it felt like someone jerked the steering wheel out of my hand. i slowed down and pulled of the road. checked everything and it seemed fine. after that, i kept my speed below 65 and finished the trip. it happened once more but it was after i had exited the highway and was going about 20 mph.
after some internet research, i decided to turn the VSA off and we drove home today with no problems. i found a major recall on MDX's, RL's and TSX's here:
http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...and-tsx-models
but it doesn't look like my car, 2003 TL type S is on that list but it sounds like the exact problem.
have any of you guys experienced this problem?
i'm gonna try to call Acura tomorrow
any input or advice is appreciated

VSA should not in any way shape or form lock the wheel.. VSA its there to keep traction, What you seen go off its VSA detecting your wheel locking and try to regain the traction.

My advice would be:
Check your Caliper for sticking piston
Check your Brake Lines
Check your Wheel Bearing

Yeah, something may be causing that side to lock up as Skirmich previously stated.
Check the brakes, wheel bearing and cv shaft. Could be a bad sensor ?

like mentioned above, also check the tone ring on the cv axle there might be some kind of build up or on the sensor.
When was the last brake fluid change ?

the brake fluid was changed a little over a year ago. everything is clean around the wheel. i will double check again, but i did inspect it yesterday. like i said though, i turned the VSA off and drove home 150 miles and it didn't happen again.

a quote from another article regarding the recall:
Some owners have complained to the agency of “unexpected braking of varying duration, including several allegations of rapid decelerations from highway speeds to near stop in highway travel lanes.”
The recall is to correct problems with the Vehicle Stability Assist, or V.S.A., which is what Honda calls its electronic stability control system.

i agree the VSA should never lock up a brake but according to this recall, it seems like that is exactly what happens when it malfunctions. i guess i was just curious if anybody has had this problem, and it may be the start of a recall.

You need a technician with a scan tool that has the ability to see the data that the sensors are giving to the VSA controller, There has to be a code stored since that happened so have it scanned.

Yah ^ Honda will take a left testicle for that scan only, You know since they charge 90 bucks just to scan for SRS codes.. So be ready to lay the bucks!

i'm gonna try to get it scanned tonight. i called Acura, and they just told me to take it to the dealer and have it scanned. of course, that won't be cheap. i was hoping they would at least scan it for free since it could have been a dangerous situation that seems almost identical to their other recall. i've had a front tire blow out on me at a high speed on the highway and even that wasn't as bad as this.

Yeah, there's no price tag on the value of a person and their family's safety.
Get the situation fixed before something potentially life threatening results !

Guys wouldn't the SCS blink the VSA light revealing the code instead of going to the stealership ?

^ I believe ABS Codes and VSA are unrelated at least for Honda.

go to a brake specialty shop with the needed ABS code reader
its not a normal reader

Honda doesn't know squat about specifics of TL problems
they think the temp guage should be moving !!!
