Lower Ball Joints

Need an opinion on getting lower ball joints replaced. Oem Factory Parts vs Aftermarket, does this really matter for this part? Also the dealer is only recommending the lower ball joints to be replaced should I replace the entire knuckle assembly. All feedback & recommendations are appreciated

Aftermarket isn't that much cheaper than OEM. It's a cheap part to begin with. I would go OEM. And no need to replace knuckle.

I thought some lower ball joints are replaceable and some you have to swap out the knuckle.
There is supposed to be a letter (P?) on top of the ball joint if it is replaceable.
Correct?

As far as i know they all can be pressed out. Early on there was no balljoint in the parts list and acura made you replace the whole knuckle to get it. Now there are ball joints available.

For something like this, any independent shop should be able to handle it. It's not hard. I've done most repair/maintenance on my car, so I don't have a shop I can recommend.

I just hope they don't have to face the Cards, still a few scenarios that can play out. I'd like to see #102, but if they lose and face the Braves, I won't be compaining!

I just replaced mine with OEM one's. They were only $21.00 each, I think.

Applies To: 1999–03 3.2 TL – ALL
2001–03 3.2 CL – ALL
Acura Service Bulletin 06-015 June 21, 2006
Replaceable Ball Joints
BACKGROUND
A replaceable ball joint is now available that allows you
to replace only the ball joint and not the entire knuckle
assembly. This part is for one-time replacements only.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Inspect the base of the existing ball joint before
beginning repair work. If the ball joint is not stamped
with the letter “B”, then you can replace only the ball
joint. If the letter “B” is stamped on the base, disregard
this service bulletin and replace the entire knuckle
assembly.

PARTS INFORMATION
Ball Joint: P/N 06523-S84-405
Spindle Nut: P/N 90305-SD4-003
Cotter Pin: P/N 94201-30220

As of this day, no one I have talked to (Acura/Honda Techs) can explain why the knuckle with the factory installed 'B' balljoint cannot be reused.

maybe in a microscopic level, the diameter of the opening increases after the lbj's have been replaced and not as secure.. lmao, just feeding you a bunch of b/s.. to the op, i opted for moog lbj's as a lot have recommended on this site. got them for about the same price as oem.
