License Plate Bulb (168) won't light.

Went to do a check of all the lights on my 03' TL for tonight and saw my license plate bulb was burned out. It's a 168 bulb that just presses into the socket. I put the new one in and it didn't work. It came in a 2 pack and the 2nd one doesn't work either - FML!

The old bulb was clearly burnt out. Is there a fuse that could be causing the new bulb not to work? I checked the socket and cleaned it but still no dice.

Yeah I'd check with a multi meter or test light to see if the socket is getting any power or continuity. If nothing then check fuses otherwise you'll have to trace wiring if the fuses are ok. Good luck.

Could be a fuse but mine was also out and it turned out to be the connector inside the bumper cover. One of the pins pushed back. You don't have to take off the cover just climb under the rear and look up into the cover and you will see the connector.

Cool Update.

So it turns out the connector inside the bumper was corroded. Cut off the old connector and spliced the wires to make a good connection, used shrink tubing to protect the splice and it worked like a charm. It's going to be like that until I can find a replacement connector. Thanks for the suggestions

Glad you found it. I didn't even know mine was out until the cops pulled me over for no tag light.

Yeah I only found out about mine because I was doing a check of all my lights before going out for New Years Eve!
