Question Just What Is The Acura Logo

I have only 2 guesses about what the Logo truely is.

1) It's a perspective tilted / angled-in Honda "H" to show it's family heritage.

2) A design compass to show its engineering (which Honda really truely has a lot of).

Anyone know any facts on this ??

The Acura marketing folks say it's a "precision caliper" to pay homage to their engineering mettle, and that it was chosen b/c of its resemblance to the letter "A."

Of course, the Acura name is derived from 'accuracy' to denote precision engineering.

Kinda looks like a scrunched-up "H" to me, also!

Years ago the NSX got the "A" first. It was originally supposed to just be the calipers without the cross-member. Like "/\". Before release they decided to make it a full "A".

I guess they think Americans are too stupid to figure it out.

This was back in 1990-1991. The 1990 Integras didn't have a logo on the hood, the 1991's did.

Einstein is right, the logo is supposed to be a pair of calipers. However, I believe someone high up in the ranks at Honda did not like the original design without the horizontal bars and made them add the horizontal bars which of course makes it look like an A.

Philosophically speaking, the two "calipers" point together to symbolize precisity, unity of design, and, like a horizon line, that Acura (superficially represented by the "A" implied by the logo) is the end-point of all fine engineering and that Acura leads to the future. The simplistic yet elegant emblem poignantly illustrates. . .

Awww sh***t, my blunt went out. I gotta go get my lighter . . .

L = Loser.

Didn't you guys ever go to primary school? If you walk around with a L marked on your forehead you were a loser. If you drive a car with a big-ass L in the front then you are also a loser

Really? Woow!!! I guess then that the Honda Inspire is actually the Acura TL!!!
...and the RL is actually the Honda Legend!
...and Acura is really owned by Honda of America!
....and Acura is the luxury division of Honda sold only in North America!
....and that explains why my windshield says Honda etched into the glass!
....
