Imperfections in Black Chrome Door Moldings
I just noticed today that the shiny black trimming above my rear passenger window has wrinkles in it. Anyone else notice this?

I went to the dealer today and I scheduled an appointment to get it fixed.....Yes, it is covered under warranty.

What is with this SH!T!!!
I hate reading these kinds of post.
Now everytime I get into my car I'm gonna look, and if I
see the slightest wrinkle, I'm gonna be pissed. You know I thought LONG and HARD about buying a first year design car. But I talked myself out of it, because it's not really a new design. I'm wondering if it was a mistake. Lets hope not. Anyway, how are they going to fix it. Is it just some kind of tape??? Let us know.

there is a service bulletin regarding this particular problem on the right rear door and yes it is covered under warranty providd your vehicle is till under warranty to begin with. The black tape needs to be removed and a new one installed, however due to the complexity of the job many shops are subletting this work to bodyshops as it requires specialized knowledge to get these tape stripes on the car without problems.I have seen several cars that have had this problem on more than the right rear door but to date they have all been fixed under warranty without question.I do this work right in the shop but it is quite a job as the tape is tough to remove and even tougher to reinstall without wrinkles or bubbles.Allow your shop plenty of time to correct this problem.jens

I too have noticed bubbling in the tape around my 2002 TL-s drivers side window. Although when I brought it up on this board I was accused of whining. The dealer said they have seen this before on earlier models, and the door must be disassembled to replace the "tape". No big deal but you'll have to live without your car for a little while. I am making an appointment to have mine fixed in the next week or two.
