I need a R.I. Inspection sticker.....

I have to get my car inspected in R.I. I got pulled over when I was in cranston because of my window tint and my car being lowered. Plus I wuz coming from n.y. and I had gotten my windsheild changed and I didn't have the inspection sticker on the windshield. I didn't get a ticket, but I got a summons to appear in court and to show the proper documents that I got the inspection done. So I need to know where I can get a sticker for my car.........

If you live in NY, then you should be getting a NY inspection sticker.

Or if it is an tint sticker that you need then go to the place where you got the tint job done.

they shouldn't have given you anything. They can't ticket you for stuff like that with out of state plates. Different states have different laws regarding that.

I always thought they could still ticket you because you are breaking the law in that state. I've never had a problem getting stopped out of state though.

If you're in their state, you have to obey their laws.

2 a point. Needing the stuff he said isnt something you have to follow in their state. Plus most cops wouldnt even try to give you a ticket for that stuff. If that were a case you would have many more issues from state to state because they are all different.

Seems likes the cops main motivation to pull you over was the lack of the required state inspection sticker on the windshield.
Since they are mandatory in many east coast states, in the Officers mind the plates on the car dont match the windshield, so better check to see if the car is stolen and/or has stolen plates on it.

Just get the car inspected in the state it is registered in, take the proof to the court and all is well.

You dont mention how dark of tints you have- cops do not like super dark front door windows- even if legal (yeah right) in your state. Its an Officer safety issue, they need to see what you are doing, like pulling a gun- as they walk up.
Same with lowered, is it dropped like a gangster ride?

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

so your sayin if my car was registered in FL where I can legally have darker tints, and if i wanna come to RI i have to research their tinitin laws, pay my money to have it stripped and retinted according to RI law? kinda ridiculous dont u think

plead not guilty and fight that shit....just be prepared to stand in line tho RI tribunal hearings suck, its not first come first serve

You can operate your vehicle in another state without issue.

If you move there you must comply with their rules and register your car there.

The REAL problem here was the lack of required sticker in the window on a car with plates

Sets off the cops WTF sensors so they must check it out.
Top it off with dark tints and slammed-----
Just imagine what kind of bust they may get sometimes in that situation

I have my car registered in R.I. and I do have R.I. Tags on my car. I was traveling in R.I. and a state trooper pulled me over because he didn't see an inspection sticker on my windshield, my tints are 20% all around except on the windshield and the car is lowered. He said that I would have to appear in court inorder to clear this summonds of the inspection sticker. He didn't write me up for the lowering because I told him it's coilovers and I can raise it up. SO My question still remains: Can some1 get me a hook up on an inspection sticker in R.I.? Where can I go to get this done w/o having to put my car on the lift for inspection?

If you ever find a shop that will clear your car for inspection with those tints too, let me know since my inspection is coming up in june and any amount of tint is illegal in RI even 35% all around which i have. Friend of mine went to 3 different inspection places including the bmw dealership he bought the car from and brings it for service and even they wouldn't pass the car because of the window tint (he had 35% all around too) I would think you'd have to worry more so about the tints than the lowering

You can't lower your car in RI without a permit or something? I'm confused? That sucks!

^^^ Ya gotta be really playing your luck to get an answer from somebody that posted 7 years ago......
may be better off trying the local "Regions" subforum for your particular area.

Check the "DIY" sticky for SRS reset.

You would be much better off asking this in a BMW forum
