Thumbs up I decided to bake my headlights(now I need your help)!

I finally decided to bake my headlights and it wasn't that bad of a process. The lights aren't put back together yet, because i've decided that I want to black them out. The only problem that I'm having is I dont know what to use to black them out. For those that have blacked out there headlights can you list the items that you've used to complete the process(if you can post pics of those items it would help 100% better).

P.s.-I did a search and I couldn't find a post that could help me out. The question was asked about what products were used to black out headlights but no one replied.

Ok loook man if u do end up spraying the inside ur gonna end up loosing alot of LIGHT REFLECTION...If u want an IDEA id leave that alone and think about putting some HALO Rings around ur headlights...if u dont want to do that as well then just remove the orange turn signals and just stick em back.

light output loss is very minimal. any type of paint should work. i dont even think you need to sand down the chrome. clearcoat isn't necessary either since nothing's gonna be hitting the paint. search for subtledreamer's thread. he posted a detailed DIY a while back.

You say any paint should do? I heard that I would have to sand down the chrome area where I want it painted and there is a paticular grade of sand paper I need and I dont know what paint product and clear coat(if needed) i need to get. Please help me out, I have the headlights apart I just want to get everything completed.

I would scuff up the area to be painted with 320grit. And id say any single stage black paint would be fine

On my DSM I uised some primer first without scuffing it, then I sprayed some gloss black spray paint. I think it was rustoleum.

Scuff down the chrome (except the 2 reflective light areas) with a scuff pad until you don't see any shine.
Mask around the perimeter of reflective signal area using masking tape and newspaper.
Take out the yellow reflector, tape it up, and stick it back in.
Use your choice of black spray paint (high temperature paint recommended)
After paint dries, put it back into the housing.
Use silocone and get a nice thick bead around the housing.
Place the lens carefully into the housing.
Clamps would be best to hold it together. I used a rope which was hard to get tight.
You should let it dry for several hours. I think it was 24hrs.
I just left it in the oven on low heat for an hour then let it sit for a couple more and installed it back.
