Automatic transmission -- your tranny most likely failed.

P1768 is not a standardized OBDII code. It's Acura-specific. That's why it said "manufacturer control transmission" -- you need an Acura scanner to read the specific code. But it is, for certain, pertaining to the transmission. Take it in for service.

As for the ticket, 24 over in 35 is a huge deal in Michigan. 4 pointer, I believe. You said it's your first ticket. Although a big one, you will be ale to get off pretty easy. Invest 500 dollars and get a lawyer.

Good luck.

Well, I said 500 because that's the going rate in Michigan. California seems to be cheaper.

500 miles with the CEL on? Geez. That's moronic. You could be just causing more damage to the car. I would have it looked at. OBDII doesn't just throw codes because it's bored.

Since he's developed such a good relationship with the dealer, getting the tranny replaced shouldn't be any problem.

Nope, not at all. Sorry for the confusion.

I was referring to the number of times Liftedoff420 has told the dealer to F off because of what the dealer wanted to charge to diagnose the CEL code and the 'tranny problem'. Now he's gotta take the car to the dealer to get the trans replaced. Kind of ironic.

Ahhh, I see. I didn't realize.

He should try a different dealership, perhaps?

In caifornia the speeding ticket is priced as follows:

1-14 mph above spped limit will run about 100 bucks
then it increased in $$$ every additional 10 mph

so your ticket should run you around 200 bucks, give or take about 20-30 bucks.

plus about 40 bucks for the traffic school court sign up fee, then the fee for traffic school.

If no traffic school then it is one (1) point on your driving record.

GO TO TRAFFIC SCHOOL, since it is your first.

hope this helps

Check the back of the ticket, it usually tells you how to calculate your infraction (or it will give you a number to call to calculate it). I know the way they do it around here it is 2-3 dollars for every mile over the limit + court costs. This will be a hefty fine indeed.

In california the fine is set by the state juducial council every year. THere should be a web site for the court you can go to. most courts in major Calif cities are online now. But you can only pay the ticket online if you plead guilty. so if you want traffic school, you still ahve to go in.
