Does the 1999 Acura 3.2TL keyless entry have a programming option for the chirping sound or is it always silent? Please provide detailed instructions if possible.
Also, has anyone bought the updated hard disk for the navigation system? Mine is outdated and I wanted to know how much it was.....

99 TLs stock keyless entry doesn't chirp. If you press the lock button once, it will remain silent but flashes the parking lights twice. It beeps a secondary security horn if you press the lock button twice on the remote. You can't reprogram it.

They stop updating the harddrive base navi a while back. If you live in places like West Palm where they make new neightborhood every freaken week, the maps are way over outdated.

hello there

go to the dealership and they will upgrade your navi hard drive(pcmcia) card for free. i just had mine done last week at the acura dealership on my 1999 with navi. it takes only about 25 minutes to have it done.

the latest revision for the navi available is 2002. the maps dont go beyond that date which means that it is sorta outdated(as the previous post stated)

hahah...i hear ya subtle....but dude, it's like a half of a horn beep, it's sooo lame

i would prefer they did it like most japanese models do, and have some sort of beep or chirp NOT coming from the car horn.....much more upscale
just listen to any toyota/lexus....you'll see

if you hear the 04 TL, it only omits a very faint "beep" when lock is pressed twice. kinda too subtle actually, if you ask me.

i wonder if car locking melodies (*cough* cell ringtones) would be the next hip thang
