Goodbye TL after almost 10 years
I got my 2002 Acura TL-S in 2007. I've been a member of these forums since around that time and I've had nothing but a positive experience from the community here. I've had issues solved, ideas created, attended car meets, and learned a lot about cars in general. I wanted to thank a few people that have always jumped into my posts and helped on a regular basis: 01tl4tl, fsttyms1, Skirmish, 3.2TLc, ErickUa5 (Seriously.....you guys saved me so much time and money with all of your knowledge and help. Thank You.)
My wife still drives a 2006 TL so I'm sure I will still be in and out of the 3rd gen section. I sold my TL to a friend's mom who needed a used car in good condition. I'm sure she will take care of the car and I live 45 mins away if I want to visit :). She got a well maintained TL with 175k miles, new A/C parts, rebuilt tranny, rear main seal replacement, coilovers, RJ wheels, and a whole bunch of other goodies for $2,000. I bought this 2016 Focus ST last month. What a fun drive. I never thought I'd own a Ford, but they have been putting out some impressive stuff lately and the price I got it for was a good deal. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...9598527bfa.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...9c0c74f9e6.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...179b5608e1.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...5d3bda95dc.jpg |
Congrats on the Focus. Everything I've read on them is pretty positive and I'm sure it handles awesome, I saw one at a local Ford dealer - a 2015 with 10k miles and they had it listed for $19.5k.

I was just going to suggest the upgraded rear mount. There seems to be a ton of aftermarket for the ST. I had a short run with one a few years ago and it kept up. It would be on my replacement list too.

Yea, there are definitely some cars in its class that are worse offenders. One of my first mods will be a new rear motor mount to help reduce wheel hop.
