A question about the injectors. Do they need to be replaced after so many miles? My car has 162254 miles on it.
Is there a way to check them using a voltmeter?
I'll be removing the intake manifold to clean out the EGR passage way.

There's no reason to replace the fuel injectors unless you have a definite problem or reason to believe that they are bad. Most times, simply running a good quality fuel system cleaner in the gas tank a couple of times a year will suffice. Sometimes with a fuel delivery problem, it may be contaminated fuel or a fuel pressure issue.

So, if everything's normal and the car is running well....don't replace the injectors. Cleaning them and possibly replacing the o-ring seals if needed, is all that you might want to consider at your present mileage.

A can of seafoam in the tank?

Sometimes i get a slight bumpiness when it's idling.
other then that the car runs fine. No check engine light. Spark plugs have 17,000 miles on them.

When i have the manifold off the car i'll clean throttle plate and check idle control valve.

Yup no need to replace them, No CEL leave them alone. A bad injector makes the engine run rich and shake in idle at all times.
Definitely do the egr and iacv cleaning that should help.

do not try to clean the injectors manually
simply run a can of seafoam in half a tank of gas- thats 2 oz per gal for max allowed `cleaning strength`
Do that twice and the entire system from tank- thru lines and injectors- and out the exhaust including cat -will get cleaned..seafoam likes time and heat

you are running the correct 8 dollar each ngk?

plan on cleaning the iacv rod slit and chamber = it will be clogging
dont forget a new 5$ pcv valve

while manifold is off: if you live where its hot summers or hard use driving, and have a 100 bucks handy, the intake heat spacer is very cool,,so to speak see theads on outlaw engineering

get those egr ports all 6-clean and main passage thru manifold, as well as lube arm on actual egr valve

I have NGK ZFR6FIX11 Iridium IX plugs. They have 18,508 miles on them.
PCV has 3,522 miles on it.

Ran a can of seafoam , how soon should i use another can?

You should be good to go with one can for now. I usually put a can in before winter and in the spring. Run a 1/2 can through the vacuum line also. Also run 1/2 can through the crankcase before an oil change.


Seafoam does a great job cleaning carbon build up. Takes the moisture out of the gas tank, cleans the fuel lines and injectors.


If you really think it`s the injectors the only way to truly clean them is to pull them out and have them professionally cleaned. Otherwise the seafoam should be adequate.

seafoam for first timers is 1 can to half tank of gas
then another can when another tank within a month gets down to half
you want miles- times for best results

when doing twice in gas there is ZERO need for vac line method
DO clean TB air plate--separate operation from any method of seafoam
then twice a year do a can in half to mostly full tank

do gas at oil change to remember
at oil change = half a can in oil and drive a week then change with oil warm

I finally got around to removing the intake manifold to clean out the EGR passage ways and EGR valve.

While the manifold was off, i connected a digital ohm meter to the fuel injectors.
Here's the results
cyl 1 - 13.1 Ω
cyl 2 - 13.1 Ω
cyl 3 - 13 Ω
cyl 4 - 13 Ω
cyl 5 - 13 Ω
cyl 6 - 12.6 Ω

I looked thru the service manual and i couldn't find the ohm range spec on these injectors.

I hope these numbers are ok.

^ Ohm reading wont tell you if they are clogged though... That's to find a faulty Injector which is a very rare case.


Run Seafoam in half tank and run good Gas 91octane quality and they should last you a lifetime.

Hey Bricktop, did cleaning the EGR passageways and IAC valve help with your previous lumpy idle issues ?

It's smoother at idle now, with an occasional a hint of roughness (if that make any sense).
Before i would get some bad shaking, as if the engine spinning at a low RPM(would happen in sub 20's weather). But it never stalls.
In the few hundred miles since the cleaning, i haven't had that happen again.

With a 163710 miles on it, the engine still feels strong.

Check all the vac hoses and electrical connections. Replace the air cleaner if it's been awhile.
