ok well i loosend all the bolts on the down-pipe and let it realign its self. and it still didnt work. the only thing that i could think of that it could be. if the exhaust being a tad short due to the fact that i got my exhaust resonators taken out. so im hoping that is the problem just a small cut and a small extention. but im taking it to the shop next week when i get a chance and having them take car and figuring it out. that way i dont have to deal with it. im just tired of this sound. grrrrrrrrrr

its in the thread somewhere but if my memory serves me right they are 10mm X 30
you can use 40 but i think they are too long for a normal socket. you need a deep socket. no need to use 40.

I got mine at autozone. Got both of them in sets, 8 nuts and 8 bolts. It was like 4 bucks I think.

Power wise didn't notice any difference other than that when i had it flored the tires would chirp shifting from 1st to secound which they didn't with the oem. Also it could here a fizzing sound at high RPM's. Bottom line i don't think i will install these on my 02 TL-S. wasen't worth it for it. I might put the Comptech Headers. as long as they don't have any stupid rattles or cheap sounds coming from them.
Wow, that's a shame. I installed a set on my 2000 TL-P myself with hand tools and jackstands and I love the crap out of them. I have no noises (except from my tires spinning) no leaks, no fitment issues, no resonance, no nothing except a LOT more power once my computer adjusted and is sweet with my Apexi catback. On dry roads now with my auto from a stop, I can spin right thru 1st into 2nd and I could spin just a little of 1st before.

did you disconnect your battery or just let ecu adjust itself over time?

The ECU doesn't 'learn' it adjusts parameters, within limits, based on feedback from sensors. It does this all the time when the engine is running. Think about it. Does anyone unplug their ECU after they fill the tank with 87 octane so it can 'learn' about the new fuel?

Absolutely ^ Yes, just drive it and it will adjust to your driving. Big difference in about a week depending on how much you drive. I don't drive much so it might have taken a bit longer.

Dave, it wasn't clear what your 'Absolutely' was referring to.

Please explain how a car will 'adjust to your driving'. I am honestly confused by this statement. Forget about modifications. The implication is that if someone drives sedately, they'll end up with one kind of car (less hp and less tq?). Whereas, if someone drives at WOT almost all the time, they'll end up with another kind?

OK well i went to the shop to get an expert opinion about the rattling sound. and he said that the sound is because i had my exhaust resonaters removed. and the sound is shooting strait through and is just making a twangy noise. he said that if i change my exhaust or add resonators too it. it should stop. any opinion on this?

i got the same noise and still have my resonator.

Some where i read that the flex bellows might be the problem.

I'm having the forward one fitted with a straight pipe. possibly replacing the flex bellow before the cat.

^^^Check to see if the O2 sensor is loose. I just installed these XS headers over the weekend and noticed that the O2 sensor wouldn't go in all the way. Drove around for awhile then I started to hear a rattle. Re-tightened the O2 and the sound was gone.

I have my exhaust resonators removed, but I do have HKS Super Draggers. No odd noises here.

Have you tried unbolting the headers and re-aligning them? Any metal shards in the cat?

I meant absolutely, I agree with you. The way I said it is simply what you said, but you said it in more correct technical terms. Anyway, you're absolutely right my friend!

I started out with the stock muflers and no resonators after the swap. Its not that. The only reason it might go away with a aftermarket exhaust is that it may make more noise so that you just dont hear it anymore.

You have some sort of resonance. What it is we dont know. It could be your just hearing the exhaust now due to the headers, or you actually have a resonance. Which i would loosen all bolts, even the manifold bolts and realign every thing.

Just got mine installed Sunday evening. Actually finished Saturday morning. I worked with a friends dad who loves doing work on cars, but it took me around six hours because he had me do most of the work. Not a bad thing, I just didn't know what I was doing.

So, I was tired and aching afterwards, but learned a lot! They sound awesome. They look great! No resonance, and no fitment issues. Only problem during install was breaking a bolt...That was crappy.

I do have a question though. He said that not having a heatshield could be an issue. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks guys.

you shouldnt have a issue. If it would be every header would come wit provisions for the shield to be remounted

no its not just me. other people hear it. it sounds like a loose bolt, but its not. i cant figure it out. im going to go to another exhaust place and see what they say. there is some resonence but there is something else also. its just getting on my nerves. im going to try 2 more places so i have a better feel for whats wrong.i just cant figure it out.
