The fastest I have ever been in a vehicle was 181 MPH down the QEW Niagara at 11:00pm at night in my 1995 Acura NSX-T. Now, before all of you start to flame me as a stock NSX's top speed is limited to 172 MPH... I have done aftermarket modifications including:
Comptech Headers
Comptech Exhaust
CAI
Performance Chip (ECU)
etc...
It was amazing, but scary as hell. The front of the car began to lift up off the ground due to lack of downforce and wind presure going underneath the car. I will post pics ASAP.

I went 165 certified mph in an original 1966 AC 427 Cobra. I say certified because we where using an optical third wheel to measure speed and not the speedometer. We hit the rev limiter in fourth gear. We also ran an 11.9 second 1/4 mile at 119 on street tires and on the street. It was a fun day of testing for a magazine article.
I have also done 155 on my ZX11 Ninja and the bike wasn't breaking a sweat.

When I was 18 some dumb@ss brought his Testerosa to our detail shop and left the keys to "drop it back off" later. Needless to say, driving it back we had it around 170mph and it was freakin' screaming and just as scary...
I did 150mph yesterday!

'97 Mitsu Eclipse- 135mph, Floored, downhill. Flat, it would have topped out at 120.
'97 Grand Cherokee 4.0L- 120mph, straight line (I70 in Utah), woulda kept going, but rev limiter kicked in
'98 Grand Cherokee 5.9L- 115mph, straight line (I70 in Utah), rev limter kicked in. Was a FAST car- 6 sec 0-60, even on 31" Mud tires- the ultimate sleeper.
'99 Civic- 110mph, scary at that speed, the back end is too floaty
'01 323i- 120ish
'02 Boxer S- 145mph, had plenty more go
'02 RSX- 115mph, also scary at that speed
'00 TL- 70mph before the tranny went

143 mph legally on a German Autobahn several times, 2003 MB E240. Its so nice on good highways and not worrying about cops and radars. Folks even move out of the way and let you go right by. Not bad for a 150hp diesel!
136 mph legally in Germany in a 1998 BMW 520i. Those guys know about top speeds. Would love to have my TL there.

130 riding in my friend's 2000 Saleen Mustang, and that was only third gear!
But while driving, that would be in my '02 TL-S at 120 mph. I was racing a kid in an RSX with intake. I was stock. He got the jump on me, was behind me then jumped on it and came around when I wasn't looking. I jumped on it but he had too much momentum built up already. I lifted when I hit 120. Felt like it was planted to the road. Should not have done it though. I was on the interstate with a lot of other cars around, AND had my daughter and her friend in the car.
Watch out when speeding in a small car. Had my 1980 Ford Fiesta up to 85. Yeah, it felt like it was floating. Too light for high speed.

TL is fast, I just don't understand the gearing... aparently fourth will take you up there, but... up there stops at just under 150 MPH. Does the 6 speed stop at the same top end or does it let you achieve higher speeds? BTW, old thread, but always fun to read.

hmmmm... yes. yet "143 mph legally on a German Autobahn several times, 2003 MB E240, a 150 HP turbodiesel" is just shy of 147 (or so) for the TL-s with more than 100 h.p. difference. Either the e240 is an aerodynamic marvel or that car always travels with a tail wind.
The limiter, is it confirmed that there is one? Please point me in the right direction... in my old age I have forgotten many things. :-D

Its not hard to get the TL to those speeds and sustain them.
And the TL-s is limited. Not many TL-p owners have tried to find out, but mine never had a limiter

Speedo said 156 on my TL in 5th gear. Using 6th would slow me down. Had her there twice. The stability at high speeds is unbelievable.
