External Transmission Filter.
I'm going to do a 3 x 3 change, and change the filter.
I wanted to make sure that this was the correct filter before I order it.
Thank you in advance fellow members!

Hey Acutee, Is this a factory "oem" installed external tranny filter ? Could you possibly give me some details on the exact location of this filter ? I'd like to change mine or add one if necessary to my 2000 TL. Thanks a million !

That is Factory OEM installed Filter, not add-on. Follow the thread below with step by step instructions and pictures. The OEM filter and the aftermarket, to me, is almost identical. I bought both and they are both as good. It is very easy to do; I did it by just removing the battery and tray for easy access and didn't need to remove the air intake.
Just make sure when you removed the filter, put a rag right under where the filter was removed from as fluid will slowly come out from the transmission; fluid is also in the filter so be careful not to spill.

Tranny Filter
Thanks to Acutee for the thread link. Wow, ask and I received the best write-up that anybody could ever want to enable the involved task to be done from start to finish. Excellent detailed "DIY" !!!! for something that I was'nt even aware of.
For some reason........I think that Acura was rather elusive with this filter. I'll bet most of the TL's out there are running around with this filter in a bypass mode. Is there anything other than the radio code that will be affected by removing the battery ?
