Exhaust Flange "Gone" !

It's been a while since posting......but I'm back !

I thought that my car was a more noise than usual and so I looked at the rear of the car a found that one of the resonators was hanging down.

I got into my overalls and crawled underneath, expecting to find a broken hanger but saw that the resonator pipe was no longer connected to the split pipe. It seems that the flanges holding these two pieces together had completely disintegrated an there was just two pipe ends remaining. Both pipes look in good shape, just nothing to join them together.

So now how to fix this.

Has anyone seen a new exhaust pipe ? Do the flanges move independently along the pipe sections or are they permanently welded to the ends of the pipe ?

I'm thinking a two piece flange might be able to go over the knuckle in the pipe with a gasket in between......fixed !

Anyone ever had to do this job and what did you do ?

Just go to a muffler shop and have it welded together?

Went to a local exhaust fabricator and he welded in a couple of new sections of pipe in place of the old flanges. The downside is, I won't be able to replace the exhaust by replacing the sections now that they have been modified.

I also discovered that one of the mufflers was shot and I put it back on anyway as the replacement he proposed was not a match for the OE one.

Does anyone have a source for OEM exhaust parts other than the Acura dealers ? (which are just plain silly when it comes to the price of exhaust component's)

Cheers !
