Engine Idle
Whats up guys. I have a problem with my engine and not sure what it is. Anyhow, my engine just accelerates on its on when its on P and it stays between 1000rpm and goes up to 2000rpm on its own and it does it constantly. Now i have a check engine light on and im like lost. HELP!

ummm check your vacuume lines, could be a mass air flow sensor to cause your idle to bog at idle.. when i reset my ecu (disconnect the negative battery cable for like 5 mins then reconnect it) my idle started revving, but then went away after awhile of running and never did it again.. i mean you could possible clean out your throttle body, that will make your idle a lot smoother.. other than that i mean you could always bring it to a shot to get it diagnosed.

Go to autozone or the like and get the code read -they do not charge for that.
However basic code readers are inexpensive. I got mine for $30 and it has paid for itself times over!
The OBD port is in the little well in front of the shifter below the coin tray.
Grab it at the top and pull back and it will expose the port.
Remember the code will give a clue to what the problem may be not always the exact problem.
Let us know.
