Driver Side Seat Belt Loose...how to replace?

My driver side seat belt has no tension. I am the original owner of a 2002 TL-S.

How do I go about replacing the seat belt---I presume there is a mechanism behind the trim that needs replacing.

I've never seen a howto here...

You can see the seatbelt mechanism in the pic from when I had my interior stripped. You either have to get a new one or get one from a junkyard. Some people have been able to get them replaced by the dealer for free since they are a safety feature.

Its actually a special extended warranty for the seatbelts and SRS airbag system
10 year 150k miles

The seat belt retractor is a known failure part- usually takes about 4 days to order one
Go in person to the dealer and speak with service writer and manager
They should be able to take the car info and order the part- letting you keep the car until it arrives, then plan a day at the dealer and they will provide a loaner car-
all covered by warranty!!! sweet
I need to drop mine off for the same thing

It might just be that it needs cleaning. There's even a service bulletin for cleaning it. Mild soap and water on a thin towel and really work it into the seat belt loop over your shoulder. You can also use credit card or other thin object (flat head screwdriver, etc.) to help get the towel in there. Over years of use, there's a fine layer of dirt that accumulates in the loop.

Try that. If it doesn't work, then yeah, it's the mechanism.

Just found this in the Acura owners warranty info ... I want to see if my Honda dealer will take care of it.
