Nooby question here - Do you need to actually jack up the car to do this? Or just the exhaust? The reason I'm asking is because I own a jack (the one that came with the car) but no jack stands, and I'm not sure if I need to invest in a set just for this...

Also, if I don't need to actually jack up the car, how accessible are the hangers themselves? Would I be able to replace those as well without jacking the car up? I'm thinking of replacing the hangers and then doing the hose clamps as an extra measure.

no you don't need to jack up the car but if your car is pretty low, you might have to or it'll be hard to get under and reach.

you only really need to hoist up the exhaust using the floor jack or the oem scissor jack (not jack stands as you mentioned).

they are pretty accessible especially if your car isn't lowered. even if it is lowered, i'm sure you won't have much problems accessing it since it's right where the back end of the car is. if you plan to get new hangers, i don't see a point in doing this since new hangers would prevent the exhaust from drooping / hanging too low!

Awesome, sounds good! I'm at stock height right now so I should be good. Considering hangers themselves are only 3 bucks each at autozone, I'm considering just swapping them out. Thanks!

A floor jack really helps for this fix. I just did mine and having the muffler lifted to the proper height made the two-handed clamp install much easier. Lifting the muffler take the weight of the hanger and allows for easier clamp tightening. I put one clamp on the hanger ahead and one one the hanger behind the driver side muffler. It looks 100% improved.

In reality once you get the clamp in place tightening it will raise the muffler. I used clamps with hex heads so I could use a socket.

Anyway, just use good zip ties, put it around the existing rubber hangers, and that should do the trick. 99c stores should have it. no more bouncing, and re-claim the lost of 2hp. you want to put it on the mid-pipe hanger too, to balance out the support.

The key is to hold it still from bouncing around; so, don't raise it too high as it needs room for vibration from related parts. Put the zip tie around it and check it after a day or two to make sure it does not slip off. The trick is tie it diagonally.

I'm not sure what you mean by diagonally.. like this?

Your drawing is close, but it needs to be on the top where you see the middle line is. Make sure you don't raise it too high too close to the bumper.
