i got a canadian TL and shipped it to the CA...love the DRL...feel like people see me more better since my last accident with my other TL(american TL)...just a feeling though

Hey varunverma23, I know this thread is quite old, but I was just wondering if you knew the part number off hand? I was looking at purchasing a US spec TL and I love the idea of DRL (nevermind the fact that its the law up here).

I was also curious if a KM/H speedometer replacement was possible (and easy) to make the car more Canadian

just run with your night lights on and let the car auto turn them off. This seems like the best solution to your problem. The bulbs will likely last a long time either way.

the best and easiest way, is just to do the fog light mod. drl's are just plain gay. i have them and i dont like them.

Why does everyone complain about daytime running lights, you cant see them when you are driving so why does it matter if you have them?

I think the DRLs are a great safety feature, however, I would like them to appear more white or blue-ish. On my CL, the drl lights are very yellow probably since they are reduced-power high beams.

Even though DRL's are reduced-power high beams, they are HIGH beams. On a bright sunny day, they're less of a nuisance. But they become very offending to oncoming traffic during dark rainy days, and dusk/dawn when drivers refuse to turn on the regular low beams.

My uncle was t-boned by a car at night he didn't see coming as he was leaving from stopping at a stop sign. The lady driver in the other car told the cop "I just left the mall and the lot was so bright I didn't think about turning on my headlights". So with DRL's, at least you would see another car coming.

I don't know about the km/h speedo, but i know there's shops in Edmonton that will install DRL's on any car for $150 including the relay. It's cheap.

Don't know about the part #, but if you call Honda, just tell em you need a DRL relay. It should be generic for all Hondas & Acuras

before i got my TL i was looking into importing a STI from the states. To get it through customs and into canada you need to have DRL's installed to pass canadian laws. now i am not sure if that is something that gets done at the border or if you need to have that done before the border. But someone at the border will have information about how to go about getting it done. They deal with importing cars into canada all the time. Some dealerships closest to the border might know aswell.

it's not that simple as buying the relay and then "wiring it in" . some care needs to be taken.

the navigation harnesses (and presumably, all american harnesses) do not have a connector like the canadian variants.

the location of the relay is on the driver's side, right beside the cruise control module. the DRL relay bracket is connected to one of the screws holding the steering column to the dash.

consulting 22-47 and 22-48 of the service manual, it is presumably the "cable reel" wires that need to be spliced to add the DRL relay (assuming you have the DRL engine harnesses which i do).
