I have a friend who has a muffler shop and says he could possibly custom make an exhaust with larger diameter piping. Question is, how large a diameter would be benefitial and if getting one custom made is even a good idea. Does anyone have any advice and input on this possibility?

If I was to spend the money on custom exhaust piping, I would feel my money was best spent on replacing pipe that contains the resonator section behind the catalytic converter. Only problem is, your exhaust might become too loud to bear.

Behind the "y" pipe split, increasing the diameter will have practically no benefit at all.
