Correct Place for Seafoam?
 

I'm just wondering if this is the correct place for seafoam (circled in red), sorry for the pic but it's the only one I have where it shows the place where I've put it lol. Did I put it in the wrong place? I've never gotten much smoke when I've done it and that's why I'm wondering.

I used the brake booster when I performed it on my 2g

any vacuum line will do.

Don't really remember but its in the back of the engine back I think near the steering column.

No!!! Brake booster only gets 1/2 the cylinders. Go on the throttle body instead.

I did mine through the PCV hose, but it can be done through the brake booster hose and other vacuum lines....

You see that hose running along the rear intake chamber (closest to the firewall)? That's the PCV hose and located on that same side, right above the PCV valve, are two vacuum lines: the small one is for engine mount control and the large one is the brake booster....

Its best to suck/spray it in BEFORE the throttle body if you can. That way it cleans it as well. The brake booster isnt a good place to do it. The way the intake manifold is designed you are only cleaning 3 cyl doing it with it.

So was I doing it right? Ask these different answers are confusing me lol. And I know it's a lot to ask but a picture is with a thousand words

Just know you should go through the throttle body to get all six of those handsome cylinders! Any vacuum line will do as it will pass through the cylinders, but not all vacuums will go through all six. Like said above, for example, the brake booster will go through your cylinders, but only half of them.

In the future however, I would recommend getting another section of hose that same diameter about a foot long or so and use it to dip into seafoam to prevent the hose from swelling.

Exactly right I have a 2 foot section of fuel injection hose that I use only for seafoaming for this same reason. You want the seafoam as close to the throttle plate ass possible. Seeing as how vacuum does not exist in front of the throttle plate, the line right behind the throttle body is the most ideal port.

Most auto parts stores have universal radiator overflow hose. Get a 5/16". It should be about 5 bucks and its about 3 feet long. Worked perfect for me.

thats what goes thru TB mouth to get air plate

not just any vac line will do !! those that feed only one side of the engine are a major no no!

easy way to spot the MASTER vac port is the hose has a squeeze clamp, pliers to remove, as hose is pulled back it exposes a metal tube/nipple
thats where you can sip sip sip,,or spray spray spray
thats located just inboard of the manifold itself

anyone see why I think twice in the gas tank is the easy way to go!

Twice in the fuel tank is undoubtedly the easiest and quickest way but I would not venture to say the vac port method is an inconvenience either.

Damn All Methods! Remove the Manifold and Clean it Manually Beats Seafoam anyday... Now Good Luck reaching the Cyls!

Thats where seafoam shines

This is one of the things i use. Its a Nitro RC car fuel filler bottle. (because i have a few laying around) I pull off one of the vac lines on the intake before the tb and slowly squirt it in so that it cleans the TB and gets to all cyls. Another way is to get an old windex bottle or buy a spray bottle from the store and use that for seafoam. Take the intake tube off and with the motor running spray it into the TB. It will be a good mist that will get to everything.

long long time reader, and i must thank you for this picture.

disconnected that hose and fed it the seafoam, white smoke aplenty. never got any through the fuel and oil methods.

i seafoamed about ten years ago (no vac port) and got no white smoke, and now i got a crap ton. couldn't even see the road in my neighbourhood after i drove out xD
