Constant 12v car socket
Hi,
Hope everyone has had a good xmas.
I'm thinking of trying to wire in a constant 12v socket to charge stuff when the car is off.
Is this as simple as going to the fuse, and routing the +12 going to the cig lighter to a constant +12 with a new fuse holder?
If i go through with this, i will make a DIY.
For the poor man, you can take to wires and attach them to the battery terminals right? Maybe throw in a 12v voltage regulator to compensate for the charging spikes?

I would think the easiest way is tape into your radio, but i would re-run a thicker wire and go straight to your battery. I actually had to do that on my gf's car, didnt work when we got it, so I taped into it with a little larger wire and went straight to the battery. Been about 2 years and no problems.

beware of borrowing too much juice from the battery~
Might try a 12v solar panel charger and leave on the dash when required
Let it be the power source--see harbor freight for those cheap

i be there is a way of making a low voltage circuit thing - like in some power inverters.

My center console 12v spot has been constant ever since the 6 speed swap. I just tapped into one of the other wires i had in the car that was constant.

There's plenty of room in the driver's side fuse box to mount a power outlet. That's where I put one (for a GPS, not much current draw). Convenient to connect.
