Confirm 3x3 Steps Below...Please
I already changed the external trans filter and I have read at length the 3x3 process and I always like to confirm before I do a project, ya know the measure twice cut once thing, so do I have it right?
Run car to operating temperature first then...
1. Drain approx 3 quarts (is this regulated by the transmission I stop when the flow stops?)
2. Fill in approx 3 quarts (replacing what has drained)
3. Check level (should be between the 2 dots)
4. Take for quick 5-10min drive going through all the gears
5. Repeat steps 1-4 2 more times (or do I go until it shows clean red fluid)
6. Check level 1 more time at operating temp again should read between the 2 dots
Is this mileage or time dependant on next change? This wont be my DD so it will be a while before I rack up 10-15k but I do annual oil changes whether I drive the car or not. Should I perform another 3x3 even if I dont hit the mileage in a year?

1.- It is not "Regulated" rather than just an approximate of what it drains, just stop when it starts to drip.
2.- Do not use an exact amount check the fluid level after the 3rd quart it might need a tad more so do not buy exactly 9 quarts because you will be short on the 3rd 3x3.
3.- It should be on the FULL mark while cold and Between the Dots while hot.
5.- Repeat after at least 1 week or 100 miles.
My recommendation is to keep the ATF at 1 year intervals on a single drain and fill.. After 2 years do a 3x3 again and so on.
