To Clear Coat or not to clear coat B pillars
What do you guys think...I removed, sanded, and painted my faded B-pillar pieces.
I used Gloss Black Rustolem Epoxy Enamel spray paint designed for appliances.
I thought the epoxy paint might be a little tougher and resist chips and scratches better than regular paint. Once I finally got a good spraying done without dust and hair settling on them-they look real nice and glossy just like they are.
I'm wondering if clear coating them would help to prevent the black from fading over time in the sunlight....OR...... if the clear coat would start peeling from the sun and I'd be better off leaving it off. Like I said, they already look glossy without the clear coat, maybe they would look even better with the clear coating.
Can't decide.....what do you think? Thanks!

The DIY for getting the pieces on & off is already well done on this site at:

Sorry, no pictures, not setup for the digital pix & computer thing.
Just go look at yours and imagine that they're all smooth, jet black, and glossy....

If the clear coat has UV protection built it it will go along way.
I know with carbon fiber when we want it to last longer/endure the rays we use a UV protective clearcoat.

Clearcoat, when applied properly is usually (it varies, read the instructions) applied to a still wet color coat. This is necessary so the two paints chemically bond to each other. You also need to use a clear coat that is chemically compatible with the paint you are using. That might be hard to find with the type of paint you chose. You'd pretty much have to start over again to do it right.
