Carquest multi-vehicle ATF - good to use?

hello,

noob here. I got a 1999 Acura TL a few days ago and really like how it drives. I filled it up with 93 gas and want to do all I can to get the best performance out of the vehicle. I stopped by an auto parts store and they recommemded carquest ATF which meets Dexron III. Anyone else use this transmission fluid? I know people here swear by Honda ATF only and was surprised at the price.

NO

Especially with the 2nd or 3rd gen TL glass transmissions, I'd stick with ATF-DW1 Honda or Acura is the same.

99 TL uses the 4 speed auto which is much more reliable.

But still, Honda has always been very particular about fluids. Use only Honda ATF and Honda Power Steering.

No, the 4-Speed auto for the V6 engines of that era were just as fragile as the 5-Speed units which replaced them. Both are crap.

Genuine Honda Fluid 08200-9008 ATF-DW1 Automatic Transmission Fluid - 1 Quart

I just bought one bottle of Genuine Honda Fluid 08200-9008 ATF-DW1 Automatic Transmission Fluid - 1 Quart off Amazon and now Amazon offers the chance to see if the vehicle you own fits the requirements needed for a product. You will see in the picture attached that Amazon says no. I have had others on this forum as well as Advanced Auto Parts tell me this is indeed a good (only) product to use. Is amazon wrong?

amazon says this does not fit my vehicle. are they incorrect?

They are incorrect. The ATF-Z1 which came in your car has been replaced by DW-1.

Thank you horseshoez! I have looked at my power steering fluids and brake fluid levels and both look good. Just checked oil and trans. fluids and they look good too.

I am at 162K miles right now. How often did any of you have to add power steering fluid? Should I just buy a bottle of Genuine Honda Power Steering Fluid now? Does Honda make the same genuine bottle for brake fluid?

I also got Mobil 5W-30 synthetic oil today for my next oil change at 167K miles. Anyone else use this oil?

Regarding brake fluid, DOT-3 is DOT-3 is DOT-3; brand makes absolutely zero difference.

Regarding oil, it is like religion, use whatever brand you worship.
