Car feels sluggish

It seems like my 02TL-S isnt preforming like it used to. It almost feels like it lost some power. Is there anything i should check that could cause a hp drop. Something that might of broke or something. Im taking my car in for a checkup tomorrow for the tranny so if theres anything else i should have them look at that might cause this, i would be very grateful.

1. Air filter -- make sure it's not dirty to a point of being clogged. Reduced airflow will definitely kill performance and gas mileage.

2. IMRC -- Intake Manifold Runner Control; check to make sure it's working properly. If it's not, then it's killing the power.

3. Hook it up a scanner if you have access to one, and just see if the car's functioning right.

4. Reset the PCM -- Unplug the battery overnight and reconnect in the morning (at least for half an hour, if you can't leave it overnight). Have your radio security code handy.

hate to crash your thread but i wa wondering, i have an 02 type s as well, and when im in sport shift mode and about to slow down in like 2nd gear (release the gas), the car kind kicks forward and back... is this anything bad? thanks

Sounds like what you're describing is engine braking. If the rpms are high enough (around maybe 3000 rpms or higher) and you let off you'll feel the engine pull real hard pushing you forward as the car brakes and then eventually once the engine slows down enough you'll be "pulled" back again since the engine isn't slowing down anymore.

For more info on checking the IMRC check these two links:

How much does it rock back and forth?

If not much, then it's normal. If you're holding a gear in the upper RPM band and let go of gas, then it happens because of the difference between the speed at which the engine's spinning, and at which the transmission is spinning. Depending on the amount of torque and the RPM, the car can rock back and forth a lot or just a little bit.

Which video? There were two videos, one was encoded in Divx5 and one was encoded in Real Media. You can get the Divx codec from www.divx.com and you can get the Real Media player from www.real.com although for Real Media, I'd recommend using the Real Alternative codecs with Media Player Classic: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm because the Real Player throws a bunch of extra garbage on your computer.
