Car feeling sluggish? It might be your battery

So I'm going on god knows how many years on this battery.
Was getting gas Monday and left my lights and radio on while I filled up.
Jump into car...click....click....click
Get a jump and I'm on my way.
Then I'm talking to a car buddy here at work and told him what happened.
He read that performance suffers with a battery that is going bad.. I said hmmm that's funny because I've noticed the car not being as peppy as before.

Install a new battery and WOW!!! it's like a new car.

Easiest thing to do is check voltage when engine off, during starting, and while running and see if there is a big variance.

I noticed that the subwoofer was even a tad louder after putting my battery in too. I also cleaned off and inspected my grounding straps while putting in the new battery

good job!

the battery actually runs all the electrics on the car, people dont understand--
the alternator only replaces the juice used from the battery

drive it for 45-60 minutes to fully charge the new battery- it wont be full after sitting on the shelf
Then go back to parts store and have a system ck
to be sure the alt is ok--having done extra workload covering for a weak battery

One thing I'd like to point out is that when your battery starts to seep out acid all over the place and your terminals begin to develop corrosion, just replace the battery because it's the beginning of the end. Plus you'll save yourself the headache (and money) of having to also replace the battery cables due to corrosion damage.

Your battery is toast. Get a new one ASAP. A weak battery puts a strain on the alternator because it has to work harder to keep the car running. Get a battery before you have to get an alternator along with it.

EDIT: I've got this one and it works great!

And also when it dies, being stranded finding someone to help you get a jump.

I will repeat for all
at all cost!! avoid jump starting a dead TL--get the battery quick charged for an hour at parts store at least- that will help

a dead battery WILL overburden the alternator and shorten its life,,might get another month,,, or year,,,, but that thing took a hurting

especially if you drove home an hour from the hills with battery/charging light on
Running off the alternator output alone for the whole time...(shaking head)

10 year old battery cables are ready for replacement- ck the resistance in them!
if you run big tunes- they are even more important,
suggest upgrade to larger wires (lower number guage) to handle the constant heat thru them
