car audio question on 03 tl s

I am looking to install an amp and a 10inch sub. I want to keep my factory radio and was wondering if anyone has had experience doing this. I don't want to remove my deck and put rca in the back. I would rather tie into the factory sub for my signal. Is that possible or will I have to tie into rear door speakers ? Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to post your question in the Audio, Electronics, and Navigation section of the forum.

Yes it is possible I've done the same thing on my sub/amp stock deck. Now make sure your amp has Speakers inputs, You then will tap into the stock sub wires and just tie them together and then plug it into the amp. You do not have to go through the rear door speakers.

Now, If you don't have speaker inputs on your amp you are going to have to purchase a LOC, one end is speaker wire, which you tap into the stock sub, and the other side is the RCA which plugs into the amp. A LOC ( LINE OUTPUT CONVERTER) Just converts speaker wire into RCA's!

I actually installed my 12" Kicker L7 last week. Here are some basic steps that i followed after some extensive searching on Azine:

1. pull the power wire for the amp through the firewall right above the gas pedal.
2. remove rear seats (a lot easier than it looks).
3. tap into factory Bose amp to connect "remote on" wire from aftermarket amp (i dont remember what color the wire is you tap into. maybe purple?).
4. tap into factory subwoofer wires and connect LOC.
5. connect LOC, power, remote on, and subwoofer to aftermarket amp.

I found so much info after searching for a few min. Im sure this isnt the only way to do it, and ive heard that you might not even need a LOC, but just search around.

Some problems i ran into:

1. finding a suitable place to ground my amp and capacitor (sanded down paint in spare tire area and put in screw).
2. solving the radio "CODE" issue after disconnecting my battery (very easy fix).
3. using 8 gauge wire instead of the 2 to 4 gauge i should have used (bought 8 guage by mistake, wasted money).

This is one thread i used: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/finally-replaced-stock-sub-kicker-rmb8-long-203429/
