A/C tensioner and driver side mirror question?

Hi all ziners!

Glad to be back on the forums. I ran into a few problems on the Acura and have been busy with school. But manage to get on here and post a few updates and questions.

I recently got my 4spd transmission rebuilt. Not to long ago I posted a thread saying my transmssion was shot and it was indeed shot. It would not shift into second gear and if it did want to shift into second. It would quickly revert to neutral and my car would stall to the side of the road or the middle of the road That the was the original tranmission that lasted 134k.

Glad I got the transmission rebuilt because I fckin love this car to death. It cost me a total of $2700. Not bad considering it was a rebuilt from the ground up with a new torque converter, new clutch packs (friction and steel plates), cleaned (flushed out all old clutch material) transmission case, sensors, solenoids, Honda DW-1 fluid, transmission hoses, transmission mounts, front engine mount and new tie rods. All for a grand total of $2700.

Now with this new build I expect more out of it and a regular, routine mainteance. I will keep a strong eye on this transmission day in and day out.

The car shifts beautiful. Like any new car off a lot

Now here is the two problems.

One, before the transmission rebuild I have always had this humming, groaning sound coming from the assumed A/C auto tensioner. Now this noise didn't develop to a year after my 105k service (timing belt, water pump, coolant flush). I randomly heard it one morning last summer and didn't bother with it because it would come and go. Now its louder. Its quiet in the morning but loud after the engine reaches operating temp and is idling.

When I look at the A/C auto tensioner I noticed that there is some whobbling going on. Now if I rev the engine from the throttle body the noise goes away and the whobbling disappears also. It's only at idle does it sound like a turbocharger or jet Very annoying when pulling up to other cars and their cars are quiet compared to mine.

So I'm assuming its the A/C auto tensioner bearings going out. So I need to replace that but I can't seem to find the part number on acuraoemparts.com

when I search "tensioner" I get:

31170-P8F-A01 Tensioner Assy., Auto- List Price: $68.36
45175-SX0-N01 Pin, Tensioner- List Price: $1.54

Are those the right part numbers for the A/C auto tensioner for the 1999 Acura TL?

Second, I recently got my driver side mirror broken. The glass part and I need that to be replaced. When I examined the mirror. I noticed there were two wires connected to the glass itself that heats it up. I disconnected both of those wires and put the broken glass in a bag. Then there was this plastic piece that goes on the actuator itself. It's slightly broken and I noticed that the glass was held on by some tape or sticky tape residue. Now does that plastic piece come with the glass so I can pop the assembly back onto the actuator or do I need to order a whole brand new driver side mirror assembly?

Thanks.

Bruce

Not sure of the part number, but I just replaced the tensioner, mine was making a knock, and a squeak. got a Dayco one, ran me about 60 bucks so thats probably the one. Make sure replace your belt while your at it.

Thanks. I was going to replace the P/S and A/C drive belts during the A/C tensioner replacement. Just wanted to make sure if that was the correct part number before ordering one. I like using OEM on my vehicles when replacing parts.

And to add to the question about the side mirror. When and if I replace my driver side glass mirror, does it come with a new mirror holder along with the new glass mirror is is that mirror holder part of the side mirror assembly and not the glass mirror itself?

you can call any of our VENDORS (see link top of page) those are dealers who cut us a break,,if you insist on oe for this part

I went aftermarket a/c tensioner a couple of years ago, and its fine

invest in a $5 `mechanics stethascope` and you can ck every bearing or noise
Know right away if it sounds smooth or like gravel

Mirror = question for the dealer
OR ask local glass shop-- if you dont need the heated feature
they can cut glass to fit,, and make sure it will stay in place

Thanks 01tl4tl & PJ.

I always order from you guys when I'm going OEM. I bought glass mirror from a junk yard for $20. The whole mirror itself had a serious impact. But the operation is still working just the glass mirror itself was shattered.

I'm getting ready to order the auto tensioner and a oil pan drain bolt. How do I get the discount?

The 25% off MSRP is automatic. To get the extra 5% for members, type ACURAZINE in the comment section of the shopping cart before you check out. We will deduct 5% off of the parts subtotal prior to processing your credit card. You will not see it on your order confirmation, but it will be adjusted before your card is charged.

Thanks PJ. Where is the engine oil drain bolt located on the delay Acura parts website. I can't seem to find it.

I need a new engine oil drain bolt because my current one is kinda messed up.

Is this the area I'm supposed to look at: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...t&ListAll=Part

Use the following link. See part #12. To find the diagrams on our site, enter your car information. Choose the search botton in the METHOD 1 box. This will bring you to an alphabetical list of components. Just choose the component you want to see and you will be brought to a page with a diagram, part numbers and pricing. If you have any more questions, let me know. Good luck.
