Broken lumbar support?

I just bought a 03 Tl Type S this weekend, one thing I noticed is that there is a bar in the driver seat running horizontally across my lower back. I didnt notice it at first but now as I try to asjust the lumbar lever it doesn't move. I am not positive that this bar is part of the lumbar system or what. Anyone have/had a problem like this? I will probably be taking the seat apart soon to fix the heater anyways but i figured I would ask.

can you feel any movement in the lumbar adjuster- on inner edge of seat back?
is it broken there- the plastic teeth,, or the mechanism itself?
which I have not heard on here before

I have a tough time telling, the lever feels like it is connected to something but I don't really feel anything moving on my back.

Also, I am pretty confident i can get the seat cover off the bottom of the seat, but how do you take the cover off the seat back portion?

same way,,remove the `hog rings` a circular clamp thats squeezed tight
and peel up the leather cover
Buy some hog ring pliers/rings (kit) to install new ones, or use plastic zip ties instead

NOTE!!! make sure to have the radio and nav security codes!!
you MUST unplug the battery neg cable from batt before the seat connections
or you trip a false srs code and have to reset it
