backup lights staying on!!!!!!

Hello.. I have a 99 Acura TL. I just noticed this today.. I was wondering why my clock was still on after i turned the car off a few days ago.. that's been happening for a few days.. Now i see my backup lights staying on even as I am driving forward. I see the clock and backup lights are on the same fuse so they run together, but if I take that fuse off the backup light STILL ON... I NEED HELP!!!! What is causing it to happen? I have not modified anything yet.. I can tell its going on for the past couple of days..

Now when I turn the car off the backup lights go out but the clock stays on.. When I turn the car back on the backup lights come right on...

HELP!!!!

Faulty Range switch or a wire short to ground, look around the transmission fill bolt for broken wires rats love that area in these cars. If you see bones any kind of food or aluminum foil they were there.

I didn't see any chewed wires.. so would you think the Neutral Safety Switch could be the reason?? Now since the clack and the backup lights stay on till i turn the car off (the clock stays on) would you think that will fix both? i checked all the radio wires after ine install and I just checked just now to make sure.. Hope its all in the switch

If it were me I would disconnect the range sensor and see if the lights are still on, but it will make the check engine light go on and the D5 light blink.
That test would tell you if the problem is in the range sensor or if you need to look else where.

Ok... Now I am stuck.. Well I needed to replace the neutral safety switch so I did that. I also changed the ignition switch as well (to an oem one) ... but my reverse lights and clock STILL STAY ON !!!!!!!!! EVEN WHEN IN THE D POSITION.. when the car is off the clock is still on.. my question is : is the range sensor the same as the neutral safety switch I just replaced by the driver side tire section??? Any help is wanted at this time ?!?!?!?!?!

Then we are back to square one.... Something is off because rear lights engage with the Range Switch so unless the range switch is bad (Which it isn't) then you might have a wire touching some live end to the back up lights.... Try to remove the Fuse for the Clock (This will make your car funny the next start up don't worry is a ECU Reset). If the clock stays on then there is definitely something off with your wiring.

The clock and reverse lights are in fact tied together by fuse #9 on the drivers side fuse panel, remove that fuse and see if the light and clock stay on.
If they stay on then you may have a wire that melted together feeding constant 12v to that circuit .

The reverse light only works when the Reverse Relay is grounded by the Range Sensor, maybe stuck reverse relay?

May have 2 separate problems.
