AV6 Swap Friendly Mechanics in Michigan?

Has anyone had good luck with the AV6 swap from a shop in Michigan? I'm in Port Huron, so, if the shop is within 2 maybe even 3 or 4 hours of Port Huron I'd be fine with taking it to them. The trans guy I usually go to in town will do the swap for $675 but he has not done it before and is not familiar with the process. As far as I understand it, I just need to order an AV6 transmission, a torque converter for a 06/07 Accord and the transmission filter, right? Trans is on it's last leg so I'm trying to get all this done as soon as possible. Thanks guys.

There's a huge DIY/FAQ on this thread. It's bolt on/plug and play if you follow that thread. Let him do it, it's more confusing when you tell people "it's an accord transmission that is going on a TL" +

Or better yet... see if you ask your mechanic if he will allow you to work with him and let you save some of the labor cost... at least you are there when doing the step by step process... When I did mine two years ago, I had a mechanic to help me take out/install the transmission, but I did the bits and pieces when doing the transplant of the lines, gear shift selector, etc...

For a seasoned mechanic who knows how to swap transmissions, this work can be done in less than 6 hours... but for me, being a first timer, needed 24 hours to do it from start to finish..

Yeah, just bought a 2007 TL with a ton of issues. Fortunately the trans seems good to go. Maybe having an issue with the 3rd and 4th gear clutch pressure sensor. Won't know for a while since my trans guy is booked for two weeks lol I wanted to fix my 2001, but, on top of the trans it also needed motor mounts, rear main sear and a few other things. I figured it'd be best to just start over with another one that isn't rusty as hell and looks nicer lol. I'm shocked that the AV6 swap is a just a touch more expensive than swapping in a trans from another 07 or 08 into my 07.

The AV6 swap refers to a taking the transmission from a 06/07 Honda Accord and putting it a TL. I was going to do it on my 2001. I'm pretty sure that it will work on 2000 to 2003 TL's, dunno about the 2004 to 2008 though.
