2700 sounds outrageously high to me. I paid 1200.00 in L.A. in 2004 for my 97 3.0 CL and when I thought my CLS transmission was toast in February was quoted 1350.00.

I would really keep looking.

it depends on what parts have to be replaced internally- that varies the price
A good shop will tell you the highest amount, and hope to do it for less, but they cant tell you 1000 then make it 2700--you would not be happy

Did that include any type of warrenty?
I could get one out of the junk yard for $800 and installed for $400 BUT that would have NO warrenty and I do not want to drive the car with no warrenty on the trans.. I found anouther place that is closed right now but on there site they rebuilt trans was like $1400 and instalation was $500 w/12 month unlimited miles warrenty so thats less the $2000..

Here is the website:
http://autotransparts.com/

The site looks very good and its like 2 miles from where my car is!

I am looking but need some help from u guys!! North NJ trans shops that KNOW about this trans and that did it!

is it slipping as it shifts into 2nd and 3rd gear?
you have a 4 speed correct?
ck the DIY section on the selenoids- but slipping is usually failure of the clutchpack/disc on the gearset

was the mechanic a trans expert or some guy with a code reader or an acura expert of some type?
Codes are CLUES not diagnosis

Change the solenoid it will fix the problem, it happened to my boy with his 99 4sp AT model,

First dam cars ever to have dam tranny issues without even attempting to do N dropps.......

anyone ever looked at the solenoids?? Or can tell why do they go bad?? I think they should have corrected that problem along time ago, mind u its a SOLENOID!

better that than a transmission!

cars are built like everything else-- of parts made by the lowest bidder
Nothing last forever,,,so you have to do some parts changeouts now and then

Hi, the problem I'm having is the D-5 light is blinking, the engine light is on and off, and the TCS light is also an and off. No transmission slips. I had the Acura dealership replace my tranny December 2008. i just had an alarm w/remote start installed, and the day I had this done, was the day these lights started malfunctioning. Prior to the alarm installation I had no problems. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I already bought it back, they said they couldn't find the problem, so they reset the lights, but they came back on the next day. I noticed, that when the tcs light and the engine light is on at the same time, the car won't go forward unless you give it plenty of gas.

go to aamco for a free transmission inspection maybe the trans died at the same time, or there is something wrong because idiots worked on your car~
Take it to another stereo shop for correction and bill the first place for it

Its NOT a solenoid problem, its the clutchpacks wearing down and all the shavings getting stuck on the screens clogging them keeping them from working properly
