AEM CAI on 99 tl, (Stupid coolant lines) car overheating

So i installed the AEM CAI on my 99 tl right now. I thought i read somewhere hear you can just disconnect the lines from the stock airbox and just connect them together. so i ended up doing that and my car started to over heat! i just ended up pullin the car into the garage for the night, and ill figure it out tommorow.

Is there any other way to do something with these coolant lines without taking off the lil radiator looking thing on the stock airbox and connecting the hoses with that hanging around or bolted on?

stupid acura y did they have to do this just for the 99's? ,, all u wit 00's and up lol ur lucky u dont have to go threw with this bs lol

ooo by the way besides that, the car sounds sooooo sweeett now, and i feel it a lil faster. mostly in higher rpm, when vtec hits. it sounds like a beast when vtec turns on hehe i loveee itt. just gotta figure this lil prob out, help me out guys!! so i can enjoy this CAI Thanks

as far as im aware, that is indeed all you have to do. wht its overheating right now, i dont know. but a simple bypass is the proper method we all have used... good luck, let us know what it is if you figure it out!

make sure you didn't lose coolant. If your radiator is low it will cause the temp gauge to rise into the red quickly.

Like FidizzyTypeS said, you probably lost too much coolant, you probably need to refill and bleed the coolant system. People with 98-02 Accord V6 have to do the same thing as 99 TL also. Bypassing the air box would should not make your car overheat, you're the first I heard of and I been on a lot of TL and Accord sites.

what's the point of keeping the cooler when you don't have the stock airbox anymore?

well....the cooler cools the a/f....in the stock airbox or remotely mounted, i was just wondering what its purpose was...i mean the a/f cooler wasn't there for the airbox's sake i can tell you that...the airbox sent cool air to it with the little flap thingy (you'll know what im talkin about if you wrestle the box apart). anyone know the purpose of the cooler is? , or i should say....what the cooler actually cools (besides a/f)?

I am wondering the same thing. I was bored today and just looking around in the engine, and I wonder what that little radiator is for right under the airbox...anyone know?

BTW I know this is an old thread, but I didnt want to make a new one for no reason

i think that is to warm the intake air.

Ya I guess so, but why is that needed? I mean colder air is the whole point behind a new intake, but when is cold too cold? Can the intake air temp actually be too cold?

I always wondered that too. If you put an aftermarket intake, and it's sucking in purely cold air, wouldn't the engine eventually get too cold? I know here in Toronto in the winter, it can drop as cold as -30C in the winter, would that air be too cold for the car to suck in? I was always skeptical of intakes in the winter. I think the ideal conditions would be in a place like Florida, where it's hot virtually 365 days a year.

What do you all think???
