Acura TL-S, Bra or No Bra?

Just got my 2003 SSM/Ebony TL-S yesterday and the front end has been a magnet for bugs/etc already.

Does the front end bra look ok or are there any aftermarket bras that are better looking than the Acura one?

Thanks,
George

think about the perm stick-on clear bra. I don't have it yet but have read a lot about it,and it sound very nice. Ie.no mantainence,no rub damage to paint ect ect

ssm get 3m clear bra or stone guard. it'll be less noticeable than darker color. My friend had a black g35 and he had stone guard on it. it's really noticeable, i thought there were scratches!
Personally, i think those black bra are fugly!! it ruins the 32k looks you paid for.

I have the front nose mask for my car, and I just don't put it on unless I'm going on long trips. When I'm driving 3 hours up to NJ thats when I figure it will make the most difference.

For bugs, just clean them off ... The thing you really have to worry about is rocks and debris hitting your car that will cause permanent damage!

If you have the front nose mask you can also keep the hood piece on all the time.

I have pics of it, but unfortunately my website is down right now! I'll link a pic in later when the site comes back up.

Here's pics with just the front hood bra on:

I'll be batteling the installation of my nose mask the next time it gets warm out. Initially I don't think it fits or covers the best. Unfortunately I have yet to find another company that makes one for the TL-S. My most trusted company was/is Saddleman (LeBra) but they have no listing. Neither does Covercraft for a full unit. I wonder if Acura put some sort of limit on who could make one or that the other companies just decided it was too tough.

It's REALLY gonna stick out on the DWP I chose.

yeah, don't use those bras at all, it won't help... they keep all the rocks, sand and other stuff and as u are driving hiway speed, the bra vibrates and rub those rocks against your hood... go figure how the paint is going to look like...

Stone Guard is pretty good, but I have seen that after people remove it couple years later(well maybe more), there's show a shade on the paint... and a lot of people neglect the cost of the stone guard, to me, spending $300 plus for stone guard can be substitue by repainting the whole hood 3-4 years later... or better yet can use it to buy a carbon fiber hood. of course that's just how i 'see' it.

Thanks for the input.

The clear bra/3m/stoneguard is a bit pricey and its a lease so I don't know if I want to sink that much into it - I could just have the spots touched up before I turn the car in. Now if I bought my TL-S thats a different story - probably would go for it.

I'm still thinking about the hood bra ony with use of the full piece on longer trips - I like how it looks on your car LiQiCE.

I don't care if there were 10 companies that made nose mask for the TLS, it's a nose mask used for protection. Who cares how the thing looks, it's better than rocks chipping your paint and bugs leaving their guts behind. I don't use mine for pimping, I simply use it for road trips. Heading to ATL I think that's where all the bugs in the U.S. breed so I definitely use it then, once I reach my destination I take it off and wash it up. Then put the bra back on on my way back to TLH. Not that complicated. Just my 2cents!

If you just worries about bugs, I have a cool idea... (yet, very cheap, both looks and cost )

I will wet the bumper ( since it's the area hit bugs the most ) then put the plastic wrapping paper around it... I've used it for 4-6 hours trip. and It works out good for my car... One time I drove from Iowa to Chicago international airport when I get there, I just go and peeled off that plastic that was full of bugs... I loved the puzzled faces from all those people staring at me... ( Oh well, some probably think I'm a little smart a**, or some think I'm a such a fool...)

I haven't tried it on the TL yet, but maybe nextime I plan road trip with my TL. I'll let you guys know if the aerodynamic will peel off the wrap at high way speed.

I live in Central Florida on the coast (about an hour east of Orlando) - we have bug season 8-9 months out of the year and lovebug season basically requires you either: a) get protection for the front of your car, b) wash your car daily to get all the bug guts off, or c) sacrifice your paint to the lovebug gods.

I'm heading down to my Acura dealer on Friday and buying the bra - it won't be a permanent install but it'll help for the times its necessary.

I just put mine one for long road trips so I don't get rock chips and whatnot. If you're just worried about bugs spray some WD40 on the bumper of your car ( a thin layer ) before you head off for a long drive. The bugs will just slide righ off. It worked great for me before I got the bras.
