I got 8000k and which I drive @ night 5 times a week home after work. My lens are really in bad shape now but i just got my new ones came in the mail today... the 8000k is really nice and i can see the signs and reflectors on the road really well. I didn't like the stock ones they look pink.. the 10k is to much blue. The place I bought it from told me that 8000k is right on the boarder of being illegal. I live in Hawaii where we get Safety Inspection every year meaning your car gots to be safe to drive on the streets. all your lights work with the right color bulbs, ect.

all I say is stick to your order you may like them. Aftermarket bulbs do run a little hotter than ome bulbs so they might burn out faster. But aftermarket is always cheaper than ome

Im thinking you're referring to the Philips Ultinon D2R bulbs. If your Philips 6000K Ultinon D2R bulbs did not come with glare shields then it probably isn't a genuine Philips bulb.

Any bulb without a DOT approved stamp is 'illegal' for on-road use. The place that sold you them just says things you want to hear because they are trying to sell you bulbs to make a profit. Even the Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs has a stamp that says not for use in USA or Europe. Highest color temp I can think of that is road legal is the Sylvania Xenarc 5400K.

My bad mang i did look at the bulb this morning it does have that black painted glare shield and also have that salt grain like crystal. im sure it's real ultinons. D2R has them shields due to our reflector type of headlight while D2S does not coz it's for projector type of headlight. great info.

I got my hid kit a bit late and I absolutely love them -- 8000k is a good choice of colour however I took the 6000k and was happy with my decision. Its completely your personal choice!

Yup 6000k all day much better than 8000k but then again is your preference. I have 6000k with completely blackout lense and I love them.

Because its true. Its scientifically proven. The K (kelvin) rating isnt about brightness, or output, its about color. The higher the K rating the more the color shifts from red/ yellow to blue/purple. The usable light that our eyes can use the most is the stock 4300 to 5k range. the typical 4300 has the most lumen output which will be brighter than 6 or 8k. Dont mistake glare as brightness. Glare doesnt help you see, it actually hurts, its also why street signs appear to be much brighter with 6k+.

Being used up to 10000K the main issue starts to happen when the light color blends with the black roads... The light output (lm) does degrade at higher Ks but the main issue is how the Bluish hue blends with the road.

Here in Alabama you get anything over 6000K you can go ahead and get ready for state troopers to be writing you a ticket for "Impersonating an Emergency Vehicle". Yup because were so stupid down here i'd mistake the headlights on a 2G TL for a state trooper in a 2016 Chevy Tahoe.
