Exclamation New Headers...not Comptech

Anyone want to get headers for their car, but don't want to pay for the Comptechs? In the very near future, there will be a new company coming out with headers for the Acura TL. They will be cheaper, but of the same if not higher quality. If there are people interested, please let me know. I can take the responses to the company and use them as leverage to get a bulk discount. The prototype is going to be make in the next few weeks, complete with dyno testing. I will keep you posted...

Too late. Greddy already built them. http://www.greddy.com/products/headers_frame.htm

Here's the post from the CL board.

This is been said by at least 3 different companies in the past for the Accord V6 (which fits TL as well). But no one had the idea materialized... I'll still stay with Comptech.

It looks like Greddy is going to make them... but a TBA is still an unknown. I am getting the new header prototyped on my car next week with dyno testing to be completed in 3-4 weeks. The company specializes in Audi parts, but he is ready to step into the Honda/Acura world.

I'll keep you posted...

djkojione,

I was the first to report about the new headers from Greddy at acura-cl.com.

Beside Greddy. WarpspeedPerformance is developing a V6 headers too.

If the "new" company is not greddy or WarpspeedPerformance, please reveal more info, so we all are better informed.

Thanks.

It is not either of the two companies you mentioned. It is a company in So Cal who is doing this. I will be meeting with the owner of the company soon to get the car in there for prototyping. Pricing has not been set, but I'm sure it will be very competitive.

They also wanted to develop a new style exhaust for the car, and this might be developed at the same time.

I am interested, especially if the are way cheaper and are of similar quality to the comptechs.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the Greddy header. The V6 Accord header has been listed in their product catalog since the 2000 catalog and the 2002 catalog still says "TBA".

I spoke with them early summer this year and they said it was "continuously" in development whatever the fvck that means.

I want to see proof (dyno, pics, price, reliability, etc...) before I make my decision.

It looks like the headers will not be CARB legal for a while after development. But, I am trying to convince the manufacture to go through the process, if we can show him the opportunity cost of him missing out on not developing the product. If I can get CARB legal headers for the TL, who would be interested? The cost will be significantly lower than the comptechs.

yes greddy is trying to make the headers for the v6 accord to adapt to the CL/TL type S
...this is the reply i got from them:

Thanks for your interest in GReddy Products
We have just finished design a new dual muffler cat back system for the CL Type S, which will be available soon. And we are working on a set of headers for the new model V6 Accords. We are trying to adapt it to the CL and TL market as well. We do not have any specifics yet on the headers at this time.
Please keep in touch with your favorite Authorized Greddy dealer for more updates. http://greddy.com/dealers/

I just called greddy myself and told them "look at this web site for proof under future mods in our details section when we post and you should see $$$. Seems like everyone wants headers but not everyone has $1100. If it works out Tim gets my business.

DC Sports -> made one for Honda of America, but never went into mass production
Prototype Racing Accord V6 header -> had a prototype but the header was never sold
Warpspeed Performance -> they said they'll have one a year ago.. where is it?
Greddy -> TBA listed for almost 2 years now as indicated by a previous post

Comptech -> alive and well, proven performance
