3x3 really 3x4?

Breaking down the math should a minimum of 4 3qt changes actually replace the original fluid?
Thinking as you swap over there is a percentage of dilution.
Loving the DW-1, and just wondering.

thats my plan, i bought a case of dw-1 at the dealer the other day. did a drain 3 and add 3 this past weekend and have about 250 miles on it. so far, very good, much smoother and quicker shifts, and better cold performance. overall satisfied so far, time will tell though. my rebuilt tranny only has 13k miles on it.

please see owner manual for acuras directions on this procedure

dont have the manual???- register with acura and download one free!
www.owner.acura.com

be aware it drains more than 3 qts each time! up to 3.4qts = use a measuring device to refill correctly

As opposed to using the dipstick to refill correctly?

the dipstick requires a 15 minute freeway cruise -from cold- then the indication should be BETWEEN the dots- at that fluid temp
indicated level varies with temp

an old oil jug with a marking system and view slit on side works great!
AND verify level with acura spec test

running it low is deadly- how many have added only 3 thinking,, well it says 3x3,,,
but a measured draining can be 3 to 3.4 qts

may as well do the accord method and power it out with engine running as you add new fluid at same time

I have an early 99 with -of course a 4 speed- and after a warm fluid drain I have never gotten more than 2.7+qts. out of every flush. The level stays consistent over the 3-6 thousand drain interval.
I have also seen a huge reduction in the amount of "slag" on the drain plug magnet since cycling through the DW-1.
Heck, this fluid my have avoided a lot of recalls...

the recall was to install a sprayer bar for 2nd gear and its shaft

the extended warranty ordered by a court case was from weak clutches wearing out early,,poor oil flow to that area = heat= wear

No Preface needed - and thanks for all your advice!
I used to pine away for the 5 speed when it came out.
Now? Not so much.

I did 3 x 4 the first time, back at 103K. That original fluid was crud!

This past April, I did 3x3, and by the second drain, it was running pretty clean.
