2002 TL type-s transmission rebuild

Hey guys, I have a question regarding my 2002 Acura TL type-s transmission. the car is at 198,xxx miles and the transmission has completely failed. I am looking to try rebuild myself. I have found a rebuild kit but need the help to find a good step by step manual how to rebuild. Can anyone point me where to get a good transmission rebuild manual ? or anyone know anyone who has posted the procedure online ? any help much appreciated. Thanks!

how much is the kit? 350? plus extra stuff you will need,,better clutches, new shift selenoids etc..gonna add up quick

with an OE 02 trans, meaning weak oil flow to 3rd gear clutchpack,
a good option is to install certain years oddessy or accord trans,,drops in with a minor mod
used from junkyard,,can score one for 700~,,change the fluid, external filter and clean the selenoids- its ready to rock

fsttyms1 can offer insight to rebuild- he has done it twice, and piggylover1980 is a guru too
must have special tools and absolute precise measurements

with 200 on it- I would expect a lot of parts like gears, shafts, bearings/races to be toast,,and not included in the kit!
if you had 100 on it,,different story

get yourself a service manual, or better yet just go buy an 06-07 accord trans

Supposedley the guys I bought my TL from said the dealership had replaced the transmission before at about 106k miles.

if it has blue paint on bolt heads of bolts associated with the trans
very easy to spot
thats a warranty unit- done within the 7.9/109 special court ordered warranty
if you got 100 out it that--thats about right for failure if fluid never changed

Look at its top center for a large filler bolt marked ATF
if present = post feb 2005 unit =-better case and external oil jet kit moved internal

If strange device with small oil line is in that location,,pre 05 replacement -original design case

as noted above, the used crashed accord/oddessy trans can be had for 600-750$
if you can diy the install -thats a major score
the newer trans hopefully benefit from the gen2 experience

Smile Acura TL Transmission rebuild completed

Hey guys. Thanks for all the head up and help. I finally finished rebuilding my transmission. Everything inside like the gears and sharfs and bearings looked brand new. i replaced all the clutches and gaskets which were included within the kit. The car seems to be running well. Took it out around the block a few times. Will try to register the car and test it out fully next week.

Any Chance you still have that manual?

Hey, I have to do the same job with my 03 tl. Any chance I could get a copy of that manual from you?
If you don't have it anymore, maybe you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!
