2000 TL Gas Peddle Sticking

I just bought a 2000 TL. It has high mileage for the year but runs just fine. The only thing I notice about it is that the gas peddle sticks when I'm starting off from a stopped position. It doesn't stick when I slow down and give it gas only when I stop and go. I called the dealership and they said it might be carbon in the throttle body. Sound correct or any other ideas? Thanks

Most likely they are correct. Get yourself some carb cleaner and clean it yourself. It wont take long and is easy to do. If you have an old or cheap tooth brush it will help you scrub it better.

I have an 02 TL-S and I'm starting to get that to once in a while. It's worst when I don't drive my car for more then a day. What and where do I scrub?

I had this happen and it was fixed when I had the $200 fuel system service done at the dealer. If you feel rich...

And it didn't clean out all the carbon because shortly after I had it back in for misfires and that was blamed on carbon buildup.

But I know how you feel. Jackrabbit starts suck for the passenger.

use some seafoam Deep Creep and spray it in your TB while running your car, then when you shut it off take a shop towel and lightly wipe any excess gunk off. Let your car sit for 10-15mins and then go for a drive hitting WOT a couple of times to blow out all the carbon crap that the seafoam and liquified. You will probably need new plugs as your car probably has a serious amount of carbin buildup and the seafoam will make your plugs dirty.

By the way every other time I use seafoam I will use Deep Creep and spray it thrue the TB. The TB on my car is spotless on the inside. You might want to get a good fuel system cleaner while your at it and change your oil with a good syn and you're car will probably run flawlessly.
