200,000 miles reached!
My old '00 TL just passed 200,000 miles this past weekend, I (formerly Chuckstl on the boards) sold it to my brother who lives nearby. What I really want everyone to know is that it still runs perfectly in every way and uses NO oil between changes, a great testimony to the Honda 3.2 and Mobil 1. The first 100K miles was Mobil 1 and the second 100K on Amsoil for no particular reason. I think the car still looks good too, and the interior as well. I bought a CL-S last may.

Wow. Impressive. I just bought a 00 tl with 72k on it, Im scared to keep it, figured I would sell it late this year (or trade it in) so that I can stay away from the tranny problem and not devalue the car with another 20k miles.
After seeing someone's tranny last that long, I wonder if I should even consider selling/trading it.

Switch the tranny fluid to synthetic and install a tranny cooler, that will help. Also I do not hold the car in third with the auto-stick, pretty much I use D4 around town and D5 on the highway. Amsoil makes a synthetic tranny fluid that can be used in Honda products. Do not downshift to third at highway speeds to get a quick burst of power.

Trying to figure out what the big deal here is. I put 304,000 Thousand (yes Thousand miles) on my 91 Accord EX with no engine problems. Don't think much of 200,000 on a TL=heck it's just getting broken in! Oh, due to a road hazard I hit knocking off the Transmission bell housing I had to replace the Tranny at 257,000 miles. It was still working fine at that point. Shows that honda can make one that will last. Many Jamin starts with that Accord too, but yea the engine wasn't 225 HP>something like 110.HP.

you've got 164k on an 03 cl-s auto? that is a hell of a lot of miles man! When you say don't down shift into 3rd at highway speeds what about stepping on it in D5(D4 for my 99) the tranny will downshift for you. in my car it downshifts to 2nd or 3rd depending on speed I am going and how hard step on it. I feel in my car if I gate shift down to 3rd or 2nd it shifts smoother, but that is in a 99. When I am going say 40mph and in 4th on the highway(getting on) and then step on it, it shifts fast and hard. there is no slipping but it's a solid hard shift.

You can downshift anyway you want to, I stand by my belief that in the 5AT any hard use of third gear isn't good as it is a well known fact the third gear clutch packs do not hold up. Hence the common terms "autotragic" transmission and " glass tranny"

No i did not pay for the tranny at 105K, nor did I pay a red cent for it at 155K, also I have in writing that the newest tranny is good for 7 years or 100K Miles. Thank you acura of brookfield, wi.

Wow a bunch of sour pusses in this place.
I had no problem at 105k nor at 155K
They even threw in a free rental both times.
If the trans went out tommorrow I do not think I would have a problem getting a new one covered.

I have to agree with eatatculvers, acura of brookfield (WI) is very good at living up to their word I also bought my car there, they have been nothing but great when I have had issues. It wouldn't suprise me one bit that they would cover it.

I think he is confusing it with the regular 7 year/100K miles covered by Acura when the tranny issue first came about. I really doubt your Acura dealer is going to cover a tranny for another 100K miles.
I should know cause when my tranny went, I was told the "refurbished" tranny is for 12 months or 12K miles, whichever comes first.

You are correct, in which I bought it from my father in law who has owned it since 3 miles, who has bought 4 cars there in the past 12 years, so i guess if you want to get technical he has the extended warranty on the transmission.
