I checked prices in my area for my Corolla 2 weeks ago because mine was dying. Kragen or whatever the hell it's called now was the cheapest. So I went and bought their Super Start, if it was for my Accord I would have went Optima or just another Honda battery.

Your options are dramatically reduced by the fact that you need a flush top (no caps sticking up on the top of the battery). I checked Advanced Auto and Autozone with no luck. O'Reilly has a 750 CCA with 3 year full warranty and 3 year prorated for cheaper than Acura. I went with that.

For other's choices, read here: Signs of a Dying Battery - AcuraZine Community

I've always been a fan of the DieHards. There are a number of recent threads on batteries which isn't surprising based on the frigid cold gripping most of the country recently.
Here is one specific to the DieHard and some alternatives are offered up within the thread - https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g.../#post15293670

It'd be worth checking COSTCO since they don't sell their own brand anymore and sell the Interstate batteries - the ones listed for the RL are flat tops, and there's a 42month free replacement warranty. I've sold my RL and have an accord now, but the battery for my accord at Costco was 1/2 what the dealer wanted for a honda battery, and $50 less than an advanced auto parts, or oreilly. Just a thought. Note that you'll be putting your own battery in, they don't do that for you there - a plus for me

Acura batteries are always $99 at my dealer, won't get much cheaper than that. The original went 5 years, my second went 4.5 years and now I'm on my third. I think they could have gone longer, but after 4-5 years, any battery is just one start away from giving out so I swap them out.

This is what I have in my car currently.

MT7 34 AUTOMOTIVE BATTERY 48-MONTHS FREE 800 CCA
Car and Truck Automotive Batteries - Buy a Vehicle Battery for Cars or Trucks | Interstate Batteries - MT7 34 Automotive Battery 48-months Free 800 CCA

My 2nd Acura battery(5yr old) pooped out and I couldn't wait to goto dealer to get them replaced under warranty.
So I opted to goto nearby firestone and got
"MEGA-TRON 24 AUTOMOTIVE BATTERY FIVE-YEAR PERFORMANCE 600 CCA" 2 pooped out on me within 15 month period. After 2nd one pooped out, I opted to go for AGM battery instead.

I don't see a battery that fits the RL (flush top) at Advanced Auto except the Optima Red Top.

If it is this one, it will not work. See the raised caps on top? You need a flat top.

You need one that looks like this.

What a pain in the ass. Just go get the one from the dealer. My RL ate 2 Optima RedTops before I wised up and and just bought the Acura battery. It has a good warranty and is the one recommended for the RL.

This week I needed to buy one for a MR2 and found a good deal at Pepboys. They have Bosch batteries on sale with a $20 Bosch rebate + either a $10 off promo code or even better a 20% off on orders over $100. They have a 3year replacement and I think 84 month pro-rata warranty. I'm not sure what year RL you have but I just looked at Pepboys for a 2012 and found one for about $120 before rebates.

I bought Interstate MTP, its not flush top but I got to connect the connectors by loosening the cables where its attached to fender and placing the little fuse-box diagonally over the battery so it clears the raised hat of the battery. It works and the battery is very good.

If you have a Batteries Plus store near you, they have Duracell (made in PA, I believe) flush top size 24. However, make sure you buy the SLI24 and not the SLI24M. For some reason the terminals on the 24M are reversed and even though their system says it will fit, IT WON'T. Found that one out the hard way. The SLI24 is 675CCA anyway so probably much more than you'll need.

Optima has always been my battery of choice, and I'm using it in my 05 RL right now. I highly recommend this battery.

Interstate MT-24. Fits right, starts the RL in freezing-ass temperatures, doesn't weigh a ton. Hard to beat---

I've had good luck buying them at the dealer.

I think list price was around $115 plus or minus but if you have access to someone who has an account at a local dealership you can buy them at dealer price I believe it was $92 out the door for an RL battery.

I always upgrade when even new because the OEM batteries suck and barely do their job and the stealership can't wait to hear from you that all the lights are on in your dashboard (early signs of dying battery-they love this..judy to get your dough). Solution dump OEM and get a 5 years 855 cold crank Sears battery.....BEST INVESTMENT.....

Recommend Duracell 34 (850 CCA @ 0 F) at Sam's club. Seems to be a much more capable battery than the dealer battery. About $100.

I second getting one from the dealer. I went to my local garage and he searched but couldn't find an alternative with the flush top. This is very important if you want to get the heat shield to fit properly. I eventually brought an equivalent from from O'Reilly , but the head shield didn't fit properly and the carry strap had to be removed. The heat shield doesn't fit properly.

Optima makes a D75/25 Yellowtop battery and I can confirm that it fits and works in the RL. Its just a hair tall to sit in the slot like a regular 24 battery, but the battery cover/shroud DOES fit if you give it some TLC when putting back in place.

I currently have one in my car and got it for a steal back when I bought my car (August 2011).

Hopefully others who are wanting a good deep-cycle battery will find this info useful.

I paid $110.00 at my Acura dealership and replace mine every 3 years to avoid those nasty little gremlins when they start to go.

I've had my optima battery for almost 10 years and it's been in at least 5 different vehicles. Well worth the extra funds!

No intention to burst your bubble but those "awesome" warranties they all sell us work like this:

- if CCA are lower and your car does not start, warranty will not cover the battery as the battery test will come back as "good"
- if you take your battery it will HAVE to be tested in the order to get the warranty applied / honored ... no place will allow easy no question swap!
- some of the stores will flat out LIE to you...

I had Bosch S5 battery tested, which was rated 700cca at 0F:

- starting 583cca at 13.41V
- ending 557cca at 12.76V

Car gave me problems starting total of 4 times in the past 6 days, and temperature outside was around 30-35F each day. Car was sitting in the covered outside garage at my work, and it was sitting in my garage which usually has 20F up temperature difference than what is outside (so inside my garage was about 50-55F) when it would not turn-over.

Went to Auto-zone > battery tested BAD... 100% charged, 12.9 and 12.77V shown - but tester came back as BAD BATTERY...

Went to store where I bought it: "tested" good with above results listed...

Next step is to get Bosch to send me their specification of the battery, what are acceptable standards and full booklet of the warranty because I could not find it anywhere...

Therefore, batteries? if you ask me mean no crap what they have, how they are - they will all "die" after 2.5-3 years > unless you use maintainer every single day... I guess these are supposed to be maintenance free!??!

So what you're saying is that the place who doesn't want to pay out on a warranty says the battery is still good and the place that wants to sell you a new batter says your old battery is bad. Shocking.
