What color to paint Caliper?

I will be changing my rotors and brake pads this weekend with Centric rotors and Akebono ProACT Ultra Ceramic's. I have a Blue Pearl 05 Acura RL and want to know why color you guys think I should paint the Calipers? I was thinking going with Red to match the brake lights, but didn't know if it would look right on a Blue Car. What color do you guys think?

Black For my first choice, then it would be red, or third gunmetal

I agree with the other AZ member. Black. Remember youre driving a luxury car. Red or gold calipers would be too much.

Color match them blue.

You would get a lot more feedback with a poll. Some members will willingly vote in a poll before making a post at the risk of getting flamed.

I did mine gloss black. I never even pondered a different color on a vehicle like this. I guess gunmetal or silver would look okay too but bright colors like gold, red, blue or yellow just don't fit a lux cruiser IMO.

Yeah I want something that is noticeable but isn't "ricer"

What about white?

I just remember seeing Zelaya's RL with Red Calipers

Zelaya's calipers are the one thing I don't like about his car. I agree about the bright colors, but OBP isn't bright. It is a navy. A bright blue wouldn't work, but a color match would IMO.

I just did orange on a Carbon Gray model. I don't think that it looks rice, just a nice pop of color. Can't say what I would do on Blue, perhaps the darker yellow (think G2 calls it gold). I considered Black like the above, but I guess for me that was the same idea as tinting my windows clear...

Just choose a color you want!!! go do some photoshopping and see what you like personally.

Im personally debating even if i want to paint my calipers because im painting my wheels a special color never been seen on a rl (at least on acurazine). hard to come up with a color for my calipers to go with my lsm and "special color" wheels.

*hope no one beats me to the punch to the color*

so also factor in your wheel and the color of the wheel. if its not oem 17in or aspec

I think they look good on Zelaya's car. Keep in mind that his aren't just painted OEM calipers though. He has a BBK that comes with red calipers. He also has one of the more heavily modded RL's on this forum. There's a big difference between bid red Rotora calipers on a well modded RL and bright painted OEM calipers on an otherwise mostly stock RL.

Does anyone have any instructions for replacing the calipers? I have never done any work on the brake system before and I think I am going to have to bleed the brake system or something, I am reading through the service manual now but its a bit confusing..

I havent paint the calibers, yet.
But i painted rear caliber brackets, they were little bit rusty, made from cast iron i think.
Cleaned the rust away with steel brush and painted them.
I used Yamaha outboard motor paint, had it at my work.
It matches the front caliber gray part, i have a Honda Legend so there is no Acura text on the calibers.

I have to clean those front caliber bolts from rust, those little bit rusty brake disc centers are done (older photo)

I did teal, black is just that black, red if not a bbk looks terrible IMHO, be creative do something different as suggested, I went with teal and feel it sets these massive calipers off nice. Blue is my fav color but all depends which blue either way have fun with it, if you google or use the A zine search the tl guys have a whole thread on their custom color calipers, it helped me in my decision on a color good luck, and taping off the letter was super easy with the regular blue tape not the green and a razor blade, took about 20~ min each side..

I was going to do the rotors and brakes myself then I thought it would just be easier to pay my local honda/acura guys to do this. They said it would be about $300 to change all 4 rotors and pads with my parts, that seemed like a fair price but what do you guys think? Either way I am going to do it myself, can anyone recommend a brake bleeding kit? How long should this take my if I do it myself? I should save at least $200?

Im currently in the same predicament...i have the same color car and still up in the air on what color...the rims that i got keeps the car looking sporty with the five star look but has a classy look to it. Now all i need is to touch up the caliburs...im thinking maybe red or navy blue like the car color.

Try silver Matt, I had them before. Here's a photo for reference

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh thanks for all the suggestions and photos!! I think I am going to go with red cause I don't know, it just looks good to me because it matches in when the taillights! Here are some photo-shop samples of red and white painted calipers.

I don't really like either one. I guess red if I had to choose. Personally, I'd only do white on a white car or with something other than silver wheels.

Yep, and you know I love everything else about your car. You know, they do make a black wood wheel.

Matt, if OPB is out of the question, then how about a wheel matched silver? I think the white is pretty close to looking good, but the problem I see is that it is too close to the wheel without matching it. I bet a silver wheel match with blue letters would set it off nicely.

Went do to brake pads and rotors today, was such a bitch got to get the two phillips head screws out, finally got them out but guess what! Couldn't get rotor off the fucking hub...tried everything hitting it with hammer in multiple spots many times.....put a piece of wood between the frame of the car and the back of the rotor and turned car to ignition 1 to try and turn the wheel to get it to come off but couldnt do it.....HOW DO YOU GET THE ROTOR OFF ((. Btw painted one caliper red, it looks okay, I used VHT Red Caliper Spray Enamel. FYIIIII There is some kind of factory coating ON the ACURA name on the caliper I am probably going to sand it off and spray the caliper with 2 clear coats.
