Used Car Inspection
Has anyone had experience with pre-purchase used car inspection services? A web search turned up CarChex and a couple of others who claim to do inspections anywhere. The car is located in Gunnison, CO.
Many thanks!

If the car has no factory warranty, ask them to take it to a dealer and do a pre-sale inspection, as deep as they can.
Then make sure the dealer mails you their findings direct.
Otherwise...you can't do much without a knowledgeable mechanic.
you can also run carfax and autocheck.

The previous owner of my RL had a company called SGS automotive inspect the car before he turned it in for his lease. Guess he wanted to be sure of the condition of the car before the dealer did their inspection. The car was in perfect condition so I have no clue why he paid for an inspection.
I called SGS automotive about the inspection sticker I found on my door jamb to find out what the sticker meant and thats the story they gave me. They do all kinds of inspections on mostly hondas and acuras all over the country.
Dont know what they charged him for it.

Thanks for the replies. Ran a CarFax and it verifies everything seller told me about maintenance history, etc. Can't see that a generic inspection is going to add much.
