HAHAHHAA 0, what has your thread turned into?
Maybe since this is the RL section i should put up a few pics of my sexy TL in here so you guys can see what a real car looks like.....and since I have an Escort 8500 x50 as well, it would be on topic right? I'll just be sure to include some pics of that

j/k

I'm sorry...I will not settle for lucky.

If laser jamming was luck I wouldn't buy it.

So if I buy one of these radar jammers all I do is slow down, turn the jammer off, and the cop stays in his spot off the side of the highway... ?

The cop can hit you with many wonderful things.

Only 2 of them are mechanical/digital. They are laser and radar.

Laser is legal to block in multiple states. Radar is illegal to block everywhere.

Some states ban the use of radar detectors such as Virginia, Washington DC.

Laser jammer will prevent you from a ticket if you get hit and it blocks it (not 100% guaranteed).

Radar detector such as Escort Passport 8500 X50 will alert you to the use of radar frequencies (if the cop hits someone in front of you, a mile away or whatever). If you are the only car on the road and you get hit with radar, stop to receive ticket.

www.radartest.com read up on this stuff

Escort ZR3 could be found not too expensive on ebay or ZR4 for $450

https://www.escortradar.com/store/la...ifter-zr4.html

The installation is the tricky part. I had it professionally installed as there is no way I am running wires through the entire car.

Those who like this kinda stuff will save $200-$1,000 depending who you ask.

you can get ZR3 probably less than half on ebay.

I got extra sensors if you get the control unit alone.

When I got smacked with a Parv Ave I thought my sensors went bad...$220 later it's the stupid control unit that shorted...

Now I have extra sensors...just in case.

Maybe I should wire a 2nd one so I can have 3 back and 3 front...hmm

who needs bumper guards...

I've got the BEL RX75 remote (which I understand shares the same parts as the Escort (not sure which company makes it for the other)) with front and rear difusers.

http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=7776

Its saved me once so far from a direct laser shot where I was going approx. 75+ MPH in a 55 MPH zone on the parkway. It was dusk and the officer was parked pretty much behind a sign so he wasn't easy to see visually. There were no other cars directly in front, behind or along side me so I wasn't picking up superfluous laser waves from another car target.

I paid about $525 for mine off ebay then installed it myself. With a few Ka alerts its also given me, it long ago repaid its purchase price.

I am pretty sure they are using Escort components.

These shifters really do work. It takes some common sense to drive with a radar detector...but with a shifter you just have to make sure to slow down and turn it off fast enough for the cop to get a good reading on you.

Good price and good job installing it your self, I bet it took several hours.

I was a pro-audio installer for 15 years. Still, it took me a few hours to get it all done (probably 6hrs to mount everything up front, wire it and mount control module. The rear diffuser took about another hour because it requires drilling through the trunk lid and then running the wire down inside the left trunk hinge and then inside the cabin all the way up to underneath the steering column where the master connector box for the detector gets located). For the front radar head and two front diffusers, the RL doesnt have too many accessible grommets from the firewall to the inside of the car for running the cabling. I used the one on the lower left side down towards the bottom of the firewall. You have to turn the wheels to the far left and then pull the innner fender shield off to access it. Its a blank rubber plug so you can run all the cabling through it, even the rather large connector plug from the radar head. I also have the optional wired remote mute switch that I mounted on the left side of the driver's seat, just in front of the power seat switches. Its the spot that your left arm and hand naturally falls too (at least mine does) when you take your hand from the steering wheel and reach alongside the seat. That way I can mute without having to take my eyes off the road to fiddle for the mute on the main display module (which I mounted just under the radio and above the coin tray)

Your install is a bit more complex as I still use the 8500 X50 mounted on the windshield. Radar install higher is better.

My mute for jammer is to the right of the steering column so I don't have to drop my left hand which I use solely for steering.

I paid for the install as I have no business under the hood.

My radar head is behind the front grill. And while higher is better, I sacrificed some distance range for the convenience of not having to take a radar off the window when I park some place. I can tell you the range is pretty darn good even where the head is placed, as compared to even the last radar detector I had. There's a stationary speed measuring sign on the road to where I work and I first pick it up about 3/4 mile away. thats at least a quarter mile better than my previous BEL. Most of the police in CT shoot Ka and Laser. I've picked up short pulse shots from at least half mile away which has proved sufficient thus far after 2 years.

2. There was just one FX35 standing between me and 1st place...don't ask.

3. So while I'm passing it, I'm thinking...there's a cop next to BK bridge every once in awhile...

4. A second later looks like this:

chirp chirp...shifting f...chirp chirp

5. SLAM BRAKES....tap tap mute button to disable laser jammer

6. Pass by cop with the most innocent look doing exactly 40mph.

The End
reading this sounded like I was watching 007 movies
