May Sales Figures

Acura RL sales figures not out yet, but some comps are. Overall a mixed month so far.

GS 1,854, down 8.1%
A6 1,189, down 25.5%
E 4102, up about 1%
S80 970, up 21.6%

For interest Lexus ES is down 13.7%, surprise to me and the LS sold 3,196 up a whopping 184%

My guess for the RL... about 900 units

Infiniti M 1,720 down 24.1% ... has the M peaked?

As interest, both Hyundai and Kia reported best May sales ever, as did MB, led by the C class. Toyota had it's best May up almost 10%.

They are YoY or compared to May 06.

Well, my wishful thinking of 900 for the RL for May was way off even with the continued incentive. I don't think there is much hope left for higher sales without a significant refresh.

As for BMW 5 series: 4431 , down about 8% For Bob: the 53Xxi versions sold 876 about flat YoY. Still higher thand RL by over 200 units.

I wonder if incentives will get even better? Any guesses?

I guess Acura is happy with the current RL sales figures as there hasn't been much of an attempt to improve marketing. Sales have now been in the 600-700 unit/month range for almost a full year, so while they are lower YoY, they have been stably lower.

These sales numbers for the RL may keep the used price higher than if there were many to choose from, supply demand, time will tell.

The main thing that effects resale value is the cost of a new version of that same car. For that reason, you actually don't want to see future incentives (unless you got one yourself). We DEFINITELY don't want to see bigger incentives due to slowing sales. Keep your fingers crossed.

Didn't see anyone post the actual numbers yet. Here they are. First 3 numbers are May07 vs May 06, second set is Ytd07 vs Ytd06. As usual RL is the worst of the division. Our poor RL gets no respect
