Sometimes it beeps sometimes it doesn't.

When locking my 08 RL 90% of the time it beeps on the 2nd pressing of the lock on the FOB. The FOB is paired correctly and I changed the FOB battery. Dealership won't help because it rarely happens and i cannot duplicate it at the dealer. They also tested the car battery and it passed. It is totally intermittent. I also went through the midi and set everything to default again. Even when it doesn't beep I can hear it locking the doors. One other question after I use the fob to open the drivers door, if I hit the open button on the drivers door the drivers side rear door won't open. I have to open the drivers door and then lock the doors using the button on the inside of the door and then flip it to unlock for the rear drivers side door to open. Is that correct?

Any ideas? Bad relay? Should I get a new battery for the car? I heard some issues may start when the battery is near the end of its life. It is the original 2008 battery.

Thoughts?

Thanks

There is a setting in setup to unlock all 4 doors when car is unlocked.

Mine beeps when I lock door using handle dimple. Can't remember if that is a setup option or not

I have the midi set to only unlock drivers side and that is working. I just thought once I opened that door and hit the unlock on the door that all doors would unlock but that doesn't happen unless I first flip the button inside the door to lock then unlock.

I am thinking of just changing the car battery at this point since it is 4 years old already hoping that will solve all issues with the beep

Does it ever feel like a nut?

IMO its all in the timing of the button press, you might be chasing a non issue.

None the less, a 4 year old battery is suspect. Keep us posted.

snug so the the terminals wont move if twisted.

Its lead so its very malleable.

If the car is locking but not beeping, it means that the car is not getting confirmation from all the required settings to arm the anti-theft system. All four doors must be closed, the trunk must be closed, and the radio must be plugged in. These are requirements before the anti-theft system will engage. There are certain voltage requirements that must be met and maintained for the system to engage and not go off.

I have a feeling both of your problems are tied to a single issue at your back door. The door will maintain a 5V charge when locked to engage the anti-theft system. If the circuit is broken, 0V occurs and the system will trigger if armed or will never set to begin with. It sounds to me like you have a failing actuator or loose connection causing intermittent voltage issues.

New battery seems to have solved everything. Funny, the dealer said the battery was fine and passed, so they wouldn't replace even though the battery was installed in the car on 10/10. So I was wrong it wasn't the original, but I keep it outside and since it "passed" I had to pay for it myself, $105, but all of the doors are working fine now.

Pray that it all lasts. Thank you for all of the responses.

If your problem does not rear its head again soon, would you mind sharing your experience here?
